Good video from Paul Harrell. He tests how difficult it would be to shoot a knife out of someone's hand.
Given what happened in Columbus.

I like Mr. Harrell's videos, always entertaining and informative. My only nit with this one would be that I believe the motion of his knife-hand target was probably too smooth. There was little up or down motion and who-ever was pulling it was fairly consistent with crossing speed. With even more erratic (and I would contend realistic) motion his hit percentage would be smaller.
I thought it was an excellent point he made that in terms of danger to innocent bystanders, even a hit on a knife-hand is in-effect a miss. Those rounds are still lethal past (through) the target.

I'm sorry officer, the man committed suicide right before my very eyes..
Officer: OK, tell me what happened..
I told him what he was doing was extremely dangerous and he would surely die if he took one more step forward.. The man foolishly did step forward and I shot him between the eyes.. It was clearly suicide in every sense of the word.....

I have watched all sorts really great shooters.
I watched a guy who could shoot saccharine tablets with .22. I watched another guy who shot balloons a few hundred yards away with a snubbie .38.
I wouldn’t believe that those things could be done if I hadn’t see them.
But none of them would tell you that shooting a weapon out of a person’s hand is an option in combat.

Could have been. He shows up at Cowboy Action Shooting events occasionally.

Anyone know how to post images anymore? The old ways of img src= etc don’t seem to work. Still works.

Maybe you were hot-linkng?

One important thing he left out of the scenario; the victim was in very close proximity to the assailant. Spray and pray could have gone very badly. If I remember correctly the police officer probably would have hit the victim even if he was successful shooting the knife.

The Lone Ranger did that all the time. He could shoot from the hip without a moment of aiming, and hit the gun or knife every single time.
Him good shot.

I’m OK with that. What about a revolver firing a .410 gauge shell, perhaps containing metallic shrapnel? If only one existed....

Good instructional video for people who even question “Why not shoot the knife?”
I would like to see the same “target shooting” results after the shooter sprinted at full speed for a hundred yards.

A lot of sites don't like hot-linking directly from their site and will block it.

And given a .44 or .45 round from a Colt Peacemaker , if you could hit a knife or gun is going to take a good part of the persons hand holding the weapon.
