Pandora’s new collection of lab-grown diamonds will be launched initially in the United Kingdom and will be available in other key markets next year, it said.
Pandora said it expected the diamond market to continue to grow, with sales of lab-grown diamonds outpacing overall growth.
Pandora’s lab-grown gems will be made using a technology in which a hydrocarbon gas mixture is heated to 800 Celsius (1,472 Fahrenheit), spurring carbon atoms to be deposited on a small seed diamond, growing into a crystal layer by layer.
Pandora, which has until now sourced mined diamonds from KGK Diamonds, said it will get its lab-grown stones from suppliers in Europe and North America.
Mined diamonds already in Pandora stores would still be sold, it said.

yup cz has been a mainstay for a long time.
I did jewelry professionally a few decades back and now just dabble with beaded fun stuff... but When I personally lost a small diamond out of “whatever” I had my friend who would replace with cz.
Not sure how this new thing compares to CZ. CZ is quite beautiful
OH BTW ,, i love Pandora. Wore my bracelet yesterday. Each bead/charm very meaningful.. Yes I have knock off bracelets but my genuine Pandora is my fav.
Fine then I would expect a price drop of at least 85%.
Diamonds made for industrial use have been around a long time
Ask a gold-digger.
If they can make the lab diamonds look “natural” then how is anyone going to tell the difference since the core material is going to be the same?
It’s like being able to convert lead to gold. One you can, the price of gold moves to the price of lead plus conversion costs.
The same can be said about cultured and natural pearls.
HE probably only eats filet mignon.
LOL Apparently I’m not one then. If a guy proposed to me with a diamond ring that cost the average of $5500, I’d seriously re-consider. It would be obvious we didn’t get each other.
Pretty....but I would prefer one with a simple band and an emerald cut.
Diamonds aren’t rare.
Saw a documentary on PBS (of all places!) once about the DeBeers monopoly, and how they bribe, or do whatever they have to in order to maintain that monopoly, and to push the fairy tale that diamonds are either rare, or have any real value.
Why don’t jewelry stores sell used stuff? SURELY it could be cleaned up, and resold, right? That is, unless the diamonds really are mostly worthless trinkets marked up by a global monopoly.
AMEN
I’ve always heard that diamonds actually AREN’T rare, but the company that owns all the diamond mines limits their availability to keep the prices high.
Jewelry store mark up is insane. My son frequents a Gold/Silver coin shop in his hometown that has a gemologist on staff. Guys come in often looking to sell an engagement ring from a relationship that went bust and are shocked to find out their retail purchase is only worth 1/4 of what they paid for it.
Cache...”look dear...some poor sap dug through the earth and found this rare example of a rare physical process. I paid money to have them clean it...and cut it, so its SPARKLES and gives you the willies.....and I love you”...
Isn’t that more romantic than...”Using cheap labtech labor, we superpressured hydrocarbon gas at very high temp and deposited the carbon layer by layer and shaped it to SPARKLE and give you the fake willies...and pass the sammich”?
So we add a tth C to diamond selection...cut, color, clarity, and carat... and now cache...
Learn how to proofread! tth = 5th.
These lab made diamonds are DAMNED expensive check out a few of the web sites that sell them GEEZE!!
Something like a guitar can bring you pleasure and entertainment for decades. You can even make money with it if you’re good enough.
What does a diamond do? Reflect/refract light?
I have my husband’s great-grandmother’s diamond engagement ring. It is pretty and the diamond is good quality, however the way diamonds were cut a hundred years ago is different than modern methods. The mine cut diamond is less brilliant than a modern faceted one.
