They do it with Humans already(not the butt thing). It is called a “heart/lung machine”. Also another process for when lungs are too diseased even for a ventilator is called “ECMO” or “extracorporeal machine oxygenation. The blood supply going to the lungs is bypassed via a tube thru the neck through a special machine oxygenator to allow time for stressed lungs to heal and regain function.
