No difference. He called himself a ‘hillbillie’ so he’s a white supremacist. Canceled. Mere communist? Nobody kills more communists than communists. Nowadays, he’d be an anachronistic communist, bitterly clinging to Stalin instead of Castro or Xi Jing Ping. So he’d be purged by the antifa neo-comrades. BLM would agree.
While serving in the US Navy? He wrote songs. He was wrong. But he took up arms in defense of his country (the USSR?).
One problem with this song, it is sung by communists against the “fascists.” In WW2 days, they sided with Stalin and the communists against Hitler and the fascists.
And to make matters worse, the Antifa’s can sing this tune. They are anti-fascists too, as their name suggests. In their twisted minds, they consider American conservatives “fascists.”
Notice, Woody Guthrie sang against the fascists, NEVER against the communists.
