The I 40 M Bridge going into AR from TN is out of commission, it spans the Mississippi River, NO Trucks, Cars, NO Boat traffic. Won't take long food, oil, and other necessities run low or out. https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fthememphian.blob.core.windows.net%2Fsized%2F54486_960&f=1&nofb=1
Because Blue City Controlled Memphis neglected a known crack for years till a Novice could see the crack in the pillar holding up the bridge. Major Artery for traffic. Traffic backed up miles.
With the amount of traffic across it, is by God's grace it Didn't collapse.
50 year old bridge audio into 911
Supposedly it will partially reopen at the end of this month.
Big problem was the old bridge was already torn down, and the ‘new’ bridge was only half completed. Some barges carrying huge cranes came loose during the hurricane and then smashed into the new bridge during the storm, in three places!..................Lawsuits are plentiful.....
Yep. As a guy that passed a nuclear pipe weld test 40 years ago and has burned probably 1000 lbs of rod and wire since, that picture doesn’t scare me in the least.
Clamp something to straighten the 2 ends ( I bet it would align a lot easier than most would believe) a few 7018 rods, grind it flat, fish plate it, and be done.
That ended up having cracked welds traced back to a Chinese construction company? THAT bridge?!
I hate to bust your bubble, but interstate bridges are the responsibility of the state, not the city.
‘The process of determining those factors could take days, and the repairs could last much longer, Degges said. Arkansas is in charge of inspections, while Tennessee handles maintenance and repairs, officials said.’
So, blame two red state governors, not a blue city.
Of course we don’t know how badly rusted it is inside.................
It's a bridge on the interstate spanning the Mississippi. Maintenance would be the responsibility of the state and not the city.
They signed everyone up for conflict resolution classes.
How convenient! RIght when the Biden admin is pushing trillions in “infrastructure”!
Is a bridge still considered infrastructure today?
It is on Interstate 40. I think this is federal project. Unless the City originally built the bridge, read somewhere is was built in 1947. That is old for a metal bridge on an interstate highway.
No problem....Biden will just increase the infrastructure program by another trillion $$$. 1 billion for bridge repair and 999 billion to bail out the city of Memphis.
It should buff out.....
Why, cracked bridges are part of the colorful, diverse local atmosphere.

No barge or boat traffic is going to seriously screw up America’s grain markets
A huge amount of product flows down river for southern markets and for export
Don’t worry. Under Biden’s infrastructure plan Transportation Secretary Pootietang will just blow them up for being racist.
