Buoyed by a large budget surplus and swimming in federal pandemic recovery money, California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Tuesday proposed $12 billion to get more people experiencing homelessness off the streets and into homes of their own.
Newsom’s proposal includes $8.75 billion over two years to create an estimated 46,000 housing units, expanding on a program he launched last year to convert motels and other properties into housing. Nearly half the money would go toward housing in places where people with mental health and other behavioral issues can get services onsite.
Newsom also proposed spending $3.5 billion on rental subsidies, new housing and shelter resources with the aim of ending family homelessness within five years. It would help families with minors avoid losing their homes in the first place or help them get sheltered without spending days, weeks or months on a waitlist. …

Here’s another idea, send the illegal aliens back to their own countries and then you’ll have the resources to deal with the homeless citizens.
Whew. Cali recorded its first ever population decline...186,000. I’m guessing with news like this...seeing how even more of the Cali working class taxes are going to programs like this...the great white flight will continue and accelerate.
they should build brick and concrete towers, let folks live there for free, and call it the projects...what could go wrong?
Roads are crumbling all over the state. Every road is filled with litter. Graffiti is everywhere. Bums panhandling at every street corner.
Such a great place.
here is a great example of what happens to a state when the left runs it unfettered for decades. It’s the wealthy and the poor. Middle class is gone which means no tax base.
No he’s going to sink 12 billion in to social workers, five tiny homes, psychologists, bean counters and a dozen other virtue signaling worthless piles of crap while distributing needles and masks to the homeless.
Sorry, running sentence but i don’t believe spit Sacramento does anymore.
Everyone’s Going to California!
CA has a budget surplus?
12 billion to hose the homeless?
Maybe the fire department could use the practice.
The only thing wrong with your sentence is that it ought to have had a semicolon after the word “No”.
If you’re thinking of a run-on sentence, that’s where two sentences are incorrectly joined with a comma instead of ending the first with a period or joining them with a long “em dash”, colon or semicolon.
Yep; 46,000 hosing units.
If it works, will more homeless come to Kali looking for their free lunch? Yes
Will the problem repeat? Yes.
Is a real, true solution needed? Yes.
Thank-you.When I was learning grammar in eighth grade there were colored folks beating hell out of whites, tossing them out the second story windows with the desks and beating random kids.
Our Grammar books were stamped, condemned, from the 1920’s with whole chapters ripped out of them. I ran a lot, got stabbed, chased, beaten for lunch money, and so much more.
I never learned much that year except how to fight and run. To this day when I think of grammar I’m reminded of that years going from a straight A student to running for my life every day.
This could get a million homeless people to move to California.
Fun Fun Fun in the sun!
Is that per day?
“This could get a million homeless people to move to California.”
Boogity boogity! Maybe there will be less of them perched at every intersection in Colorado Springs.
See how much clearer the problem becomes when you use honest language?
Regards,
The problem of “homelessness” is not a lack of housing, affordable or otherwise.
