I'm done with the TV show New Amsterdam

Mrs. Copaliscrossing and I were looking for a TV show to watch and decided on New Amsterdam because we liked the lead actor when he was in The Blacklist. Well, it all started out pretty good and we were getting into it then... ugh... the far left political messaging started getting stronger and stronger with subjects like hiring disparity between minorities and white people and other pet liberal causes. Sooo disappointing. The same thing happened to us when we got into Madame Secretary and Lone Survivor. We have decided we are better off staying with the streaming content that usually stays to a sane storyline instead of pushing a political agenda. Still have to be careful with that.

Yes, the Russians in it are great. I did especially like the Resident Fellow, he always seemed like a good guy. And it was interesting to see their war in Afghanistan from their side.

“La Casa De Papel” on Netflix. Do not see the dubbed version called “Money Heist” -— See the original with English subtitles. First season is the best. But all four seasons are very well done.

Thanks.

That’s my preferred poison if I can’t get it on Amazon Prime or Netflix)

Have most series in DVDs or Blu-Rays but I will not open them except to inspect them once a year for playability (have them all ripped onto a media hard drive)

British series
The Game -only 6 episodes —
Inspector Lewis

Italian series
Montalbano

French series
Blood on the vine
The French Village (skip the final season)

New Zealand series
The Brokenwood Mysteries

US series
Burn Notice
Justified

Got all of these from my local library.

We watch them all with the subtitles turned on. Not so bad.

I know there are more and will list them when I think of them.

Thanks for the recommendations!

I also really like the spy thriller genre like Jack Ryan if anyone has a recommendation for something like that.

The Game(listed above) is a spy series. Too short (but complete) with only 6 episodes.

If you read, the Gabriel Allon series by Daniel Silva is excellent. Read in order, there are about 20 now. #20 wanders into political correctness but there is alot of reading before you get to that one.

Thanks! I have read the whole Gabriel Allon series and absolutely love it. I think that would make a great series if anyone wanted to pick it up for a TV series.

The other authors in that genre I read are Vince Flynn/Kyle Mills, Brad Thor, Brad Taylor, David Baldacci, Alex Berensen, LT Ryan, Cap Daniels (love this series), Mark Nolan, and Jack Mars.

>> See the original with English subtitles.

Funny you mentioned that. I agree the films are far better in the natural language with subtitles.

Wolf’s Call (France, Movie)
Money Heist (Spain, 4 seasons)
Dark (Germany, 3+ seasons)
Better Than Us (Russia, 2+ seasons)
_______

Seeing La Casa de Papel I realized these were all superior actors, actresses from Spain. Better than those from Hollywood.

When I see that Hollywood has done a remake of a foreign movie or TV series, I try to see the original with English subtitles. In the last 10 years I have done this about 5 times. Most recently this movie. The Norwegian original (In Order of Disappearance) from 2014 was very good>>>>>>>

Cold Pursuit is a 2019 action thriller film[4][6] directed by Hans Petter Moland from a screenplay by Frank Baldwin. A British-American co-production, the film stars Liam Neeson, Tom Bateman, Tom Jackson, Emmy Rossum, Domenick Lombardozzi, Julia Jones, John Doman, and Laura Dern. It is a remake of the 2014 Norwegian film In Order of Disappearance (Kraftidioten), also directed by Moland, and follows a vengeful snowplow driver who starts killing the members of a drug cartel following the murder of his son.

I don't think so. It's been a while since we watched that show and I don't remember the names of all the characters but Kalashnikov doesn't ring a bell.

I will say that this show was an eye opener for us. It helped us understand the relationship between Israel, the Palestinians, and the terror groups much much better. At least from the Israeli perspective.

Yes! In Order of Disappearance (2014) is available on Netflix United States. After his son is murdered by drug dealers, a snowplow driver starts seeking revenge. When he sets out to avenge his son’s murder, mild-mannered snowplow driver Nils sparks a war between a Norwegian mobster and his Serbian rival.
