Okay so we were a bit hard on brits as americans for the "lol no guns" thing but they have just now provided us with the first ACTUAL sword fight caught on camera that isnt choreographed or part of some LARP sport.

The series, “Connections” by James Burk in 1980 on PBS covered this in one episode. He hung a side of beef on a hook and started hacking at it with a broadsword, explaining that on the ancient battlefield, a few thousand men hacked at each other that way, most dying a couple of weeks later of their wounds, assuming an artery was not severed.
It was quite gross when you applied that context to what he did to that side of beef.
