Yep, I caught the hand more than once with dad turning around. As things were starting to heat up in the back seat, he’d always say “Don’t start something you can’t stop.” Then we’d keep at it a bit until BOOM!

I rode to Arizona and back to Wisconsin in the back jump seats of a 1966 Country Squire wagon in 1968 with my parents and 3 other siblings.

my dad drove us from jersey to california in a 1965 plymouth station wagon... that man was a saint... 7 kids and his wife across country.

Lol!

If you’ve never seen this classic WC Fields film, I DEMAND you watch ASAP! Seriously, you’re going to laugh your tuckus off!

I found a 2 door Rambler wagon and keep pondering building something like this:

Sorry to hear that.

However, it seems you turned out okay regardless.

Lol! Joking... It’s not a bad looking car.
There were certainly worse. :)

I had the Buick Roadmaster version of that wagon (’94). Same color (satin black) but with a thin red stripe. I sold it when it blew almost triple the allowable exhaust for Phoenix standards.

Here are two pics of the car you linked to (1963 Rambler) plus a 3rd of a 1960 Rambler station wagon I found elsewhere online...

I didn't know until fairly recently that other GM cars, besides Chevy, had a version of the Nomad.

I didn't know about the Oldsmobile Fiesta. It might not be my first pick but I'd sure be seen in one of those. I probably go with a 1957 Ford Courier first, then a 1957 Pontiac Safari, and then a 1959 Chevrolet Brookwood.

I saw nice Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser for sale a couple of years ago. Nice.

Notice that the 3 are not similar in just being 2-door wagons, but that they each have the slanted roof pillars and chrome strips on the tailgate. I think all 3 also have the series of parallel lines across the roof (running perpendicular to the length of the car).

Because, even Chevy, had a 2-door wagon that wasn't a Nomad, having straight roof pillars, plain tailgate and smooth roof (without the lines).

Right, the Fords 2-doors were called Ranch Wagons. In 56 they also had the Parklane which was supposed to be the answer to the Nomad.

The Couriers were the Sedan deliveries I believe.

I honestly believe 65-67 were the last good looking full size Fords. I like the 67 best, then the 65. The 66 just looks like it can’t decide which one it should be.

Our family car was a 65 so it may be that that’s just ingrained in my mind. But the stacked headlights were pretty cool.

I’d take a nice 65 Falcon Sprint hardtop as well! Or convertible.

Thanks!

I like the description at the link...

“This is an extract from a promotional film detailing the full range of Ford cars in the USA for 1965. This is a heavily remodeled Galaxie, larger, with upgraded suspension and a wider range of engines. The all-new suspension features “rubber, rubber and more rubber”.”
