Temporary hair loss has also been noted. Could this be a result of cessation of growth same as the nails show cessation of growth by producing horizontal ridges?
what other organs have their growth (ability to repair?) interrupted by covid?

Fifty years ago, when shoeing horses, we were told that transverse lines meant the horse had suffered a fever some time in the past.
I haven’t noticed it on my nails when I had a fever or flu.
