According to reports, a woman and a child were shot in Times Square in New York City.

There is a massive police presence at the scene.

According to ABC, the shooting occured at approximately 5 p.m. near West 44th St. and 7th Ave, and the victims were sent to Bellevue Hospital.

ABC also reported that the suspect fled the scene ...

Wow. Up until this past January I had lived right around the corner from there.

It's only a few blocks from where that Asian woman, on her way to church, was attacked by a black, anti-Asian, racist. Turned out the guy had murdered his own mother some years earlier. The two security guards, who did absolutely nothing to help her, were reportedly fired.

The guards had a tradition to live up to. Kitty Genovese is lonely and forgotten in her grave. So like true New Yorkers from the 1960s, they looked the other way.

There are at least 3 full grown men, COWARDS, in the lobby of that building, two security guards/doormen and one delivery guy! What does the doorman do after witnessing the entire attack? He calmly closes the door, leaving the severely beaten woman on the concrete sidewalk!

This is what happens when you abandon serious policing. This is why New York needs a tough mayor, someone like Rudy.

I've lived in new York City all but one of my 63 years, and there are still plenty of people here today that would rush to help someone being attacked like that. These days, the past few decades or so, it would most likely be Puerto Rican guys helping. There are hardly any white guys here anymore worth a schiff in this regard.

The Kitty Genovese incident I believe happened in the 70s, when a racist black guy, specifically sought out a white woman to attack. It was in the Kew Gardens section of Queens. Fortunately for the attacker, she was no relation to "Vito".

During the heyday of the Rudy era, that sort of cowardice was getting thin on the ground. I remember the blackout and 9/11, and everyone was pulling together. It was the best time for the City.
