Hopefully the food isn’t that old; but back then they didn’t have pull dates so maybe ....?

Irish Stew?

You would think that cannibalism would be gone by 1913.

The British embrace their history more closely than most of us in this country. I’m sure much will be made of this discovery. They will probably have that menu framed, under glass and on display in the restaurant.

Might even take a few entres and desserts from the old menu to feature them now. That’s what I would do to attract attention while coming out of this pandemic.

"bags of bird food for tuppence (two pence) a bag. The British pound was worth then US five dollars, there were 240 pence (pennies) to the pound. Therefore "tuppence" would have been worth around four US cents."

That is of course in the time of Mary Poppins, which is pre-first-world-war.

Back then, a loaf of bread in the US was something like nine cents.

Beef chump chops are the steaks behind the loin.

They are apologetic some dishes are a 10 minute wait. Today, you’re lucky to get your meal in an hour.

“Try the Irish stew”
“Is it made with real Irish?”
“Of course!”
“Are they fresh?”
