Keep an eye on Stefanik after Cheney gets the boot. Groomed by Bush, Rove, Ryan, Romney.

Exactly. This open-borders RINO is not much of an improvement, except she showed (portrayed?) loyalty to Trump.

Not at all sure why Trump is supporting this mess. Hasn’t he learned anything?

“Bush, Rove, Ryan, Romney.”

Wow. A rogues' gallery of losers and filth.

No wonder the "leadership" is pushing Stefanik!

This may not be good.

She may be beholden to the anti-Trumpers who put her into office originally or maybe she has already given the finger to these anti-Trumpers once she got into office.

In either case we need to keep a close watch.

It’s ultra common that the house leader will do local campaigns, doesn’t mean she’s beholden to anyone. Take a look at what she’s done, especially for Trump, solid as a rock. Doesn’t man people don’t change, but I think she’s 10x better than Cheney and she deserves a chance.

It was a while ago, people change. She has been very good lately.
I do not believe in eternal damnation of somebody.
Unlike some posters here, unfortunately.

Pretty nearly everyone made use of these party resources at the time. What’s she been like since 2016?

Certainly there are good reasons for everyone to be cautious about the events unfolding here.

Personally, I consider the House Republican Conference Chair to be a pretty inconsequential position in the larger scheme of things. I went back and looked at a list of the Republicans who have held this post previously over the last 40 years, and this is what I found:

Jack Kemp (NY)
Dick Cheney (WY)
Jerry Lewis (CA)
Dick Armey (TX)
John Boehner (OH)
J. C. Watts (OK)
Deborah Pryce (OH)
Adam Putnam (FL)
Mike Pence (IN)
Jeb Hensarling (TX)
Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA)
Liz Cheney (WY)

I don't even recognize some of these names, and the ones I do recognize seem to be all over the GOP political spectrum.

Word on the street is that during the Paul Ryan years the GOP has turned this particular leadership position into a "diversity" post that must be occupied by a woman and/or minority. With that in mind, I'd say the options for replacing Lizard Cheney are very limited. I would have loved to see Marsha Blackburn in this role, but she's in the U.S. Senate now.

Steve Bannon likes her a lot and had her on his show this morning. Apparently she was a strong Trump supporter from the beginning, sticking with him through all of the controversies.

"Keep an eye on Stefanik after Cheney gets the boot. Groomed by Bush, Rove, Ryan, Romney."

Maybe, but she did vote against certification of a potato, and thoroughly believes the election was stolen. That's more than Rand Paul did. He planned on voting against certification, but his weak-assed mind was changed when Congress reconvened on January 6th, and he voted to certify a potato, and sanctioned unlimited voter fraud. I realize she a Representative, and he's a Senator, but it would appear she's got more balls than he'll ever have.

MEH.

It was 2014. Back then, Stefanik was also supported by Tea Party favorite Doug Hoffman. I could post an article that shows that support to counter this article. Add to that I can give you anti establishment Trump's support for Stefanik today, compared to this article listing establishment support for Stefanik in 2014.

I would pay more attention the issues that she supports.

She has supported Trump all along. From grilling Comey about spying to defending Trump during impeachment, she has been very good.

Conversely, she was not a big supporter of the wall, and she seems to think that there is significant AGW.

Those are the things to look at. Not this screed from the Daily "News".
