Opening Night is a 1977 American psychological drama film written and directed by John Cassavetes, and starring Gena Rowlands, Ben Gazzara, Joan Blondell, Paul Stewart, and Cassavetes. Nope. Dudley Moore in Arthur is the GOAT of drunk actors.
Honorable mention goes to Karen Allen out-drinking that fat Buddha guy in that scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

I also thought Jeff Bridges in “True Grit” was an excellent drunk.

“Dudley Moore in Arthur is the GOAT of drunk actors.”
Not even close. It’s Peter O’Toole in My Favorite Year.

Dudley Moore was hilarious in that role. I have to see that film again sometime soon.

He was a brilliant director. Gena Rowlands in “A Woman on the Verge”is so raw that it’s painful to watch, but you can’t look away. Peter Falk was amazing too. I need to watch opening night. I always though Cassavetes was gorgeous.

I’ve been in a bar with outside stairs just like those at the beginning of the clip. Except there was no stair railing. If you could make it down the stairs without falling, you were considered okay to drive.

YES!!! Peter O’Toole was SO GOOD in this movie!! When he first staggers into a conference room as Alan Swann, one of the King Kaiser show producers says “He’s plastered!!” O’toole responds, “If I were TRULY plastered, could I do THIS?! Hold my sword!” Then he proceeds to do a somersault onto the conference table, rolls perfectly over and lands with a large a movie projector between his stretched-out legs, BARELY missing his crotch—and then he instantly passes out cold in that position. Peter O’Toole was sheer perfection in this movie! He was nominated for an Oscar and he should have won.

One of my favorite movies.
However, for drama nobody beats Frank Sinatra in his portrayal of Joe E. Louis in The Joker Is Wild. "Post time!"
