You'd like a drink better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stub, wouldn't you?

-- Frankie Ballou to Kid Shelleen

Happy birthday dear Frankie, happy birthday to you!

-- Kid Shelleen to Frankie Ballou

One of my favorite movies.

However, for drama nobody beats Frank Sinatra in his portrayal of Joe E. Louis in The Joker Is Wild. "Post time!"

The only problem I have with Lee’s portrayal is Jane Fonda. In have threatened at our reunion to have available an empty magnum bottle of champagne and have our members piss in it until it is full and save it for the time one of our surviving shipmates could empty it out on her grave.

Otherwise of course he was magnificent and as a combat Marine truly special. Here are his medals.

Purple Heart Navy Commendation Medal with V Device Combat Action Ribbon Navy and Marine Presidential Unit Citation American Campaign Medal ribbon and streamer American Campaign Medal Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal ribbon and streamer Ribbon for World War II Victory Medal World War II Victory Medal
