The Queen has launched her first beer made with plants grown on her Royal Sandringham estate in Norfolk.

Her Majesty has moved into home brewing with two new bitters produced using organic Laureate Spring Barley harvested from her gardens and crystal clear water drawn from a nearby bore hole.

Sandringham Best Bitter is priced at £3.99 for a 500ml bottle and is made locally by Barsham Brewery in North Norfolk. There are two types of brew available, a 4.3% Best Bitter and a stronger 5% Golden IPA.

The Best Bitter is a 'cold filtered traditionally brewed beer' made using three different varieties of hops, which create a 'characteristic full flavoured beer, according to the label.

The Queen has to make a buck too, just like everyone else. Times are tough all over.

If Harry can make movies, The Queen can make beer.

Good for her. Nothing better than a fine brew.

It's an art!

I read a book called Backstairs Billy Tallon, the Queen Mother’s most devoted servant. The Queen Mother loved her Dubonnet.

Very good book, btw.

Does the Royal simpleton know that all the pubs are closed?

Agreed, but depends how good it is.

I mean, there are beers that go for $5.50 a bottle, aren't there? Also these are pretty big bottles; 500 ml is 66% more than a normal 12-oz American beer bottle. So on a per-volume basis, £4 per 500 ml bottle is like $3.35/bottle, if I'm doing the math right.

The best beer I ever had (Anchor Steam) is less than $2 per 12-oz bottle in a six-pack, but surely there are more expensive brews available.

I'm using the current exchange rate of £1 = $1.39.

Scotland and other places are open and England will be in two weeks. But even simpletons know you don’t need to go to a pub to drink beer.

You drink Genesee in Texas? It’s brewed about 70 miles from where I’m sitting. And I’m a long way from Texas. Anyway, the Queen’s beer is way outside my price range.
