Billie Hayes Dies: Wicked Witchiepoo Of ‘H.R. Pufnstuf’ Was 96

Billie Hayes, whose portrayal of the flamboyantly and comically wicked witch Witchiepoo on the 1969-70 Saturday morning live-action children’s classic H.R. Pufnstuf, died of natural causes Thursday April 29 at Cedar’s Hospital in Los Angeles. She was 96.

Her death was announced by her family.

“PufNStuf and the related Lidsville were among my favorite TV shows when I was 4 or 5.”

Don’t forget Sigmund & the Sea Monsters. Sid & Marty Kroft put out some fun shows for kids during that era.

Interesting trivia is that little Jimmy (Jack Wild) from PufnStuf already had an Oscar nomination prior to doing that show from the musical Oliver!(1968)

No way that could be Billie Hayes. She was born 1925 and I don’t think they photographed like that in the 50’s.
