Fertility expert blasts celebrity mothers in their 40s who 'mislead' women that getting pregnant in later life is easy though many have little problem having babies after 35

One of the UK’s top fertility experts has hit out at older celebrity mothers who ‘mislead’ women into thinking having a baby in their 40s is easy.

In March, BBC presenter Christine Lampard, 42, became the latest in a line of famous faces to give birth in their 40s, following the likes of Nicole Kidman, Madonna and Halle Berry. In 2016, singer Janet Jackson announced she was pregnant just a few weeks before her 50th birthday, and gave birth to a healthy boy in January 2017.

But Dr Geeta Nargund, consultant gynaecologist at London’s St George’s Hospital and a fertility pioneer, has urged women not to delay starting a family in order to avoid a raft of age-related complications.

Times change. My grandfather was one of 13. His first mother died before she was 30 having had 7 kids. His father remarried and they had 6 more kids. This was in the 1920’s.

We have 3 sons, my wife was 33, 35, and 39. No problems at all getting pregnant or with the pregnancy each time. Guess we’re lucky.

Many women over the last 30 years were told that simply being over 30 made it difficult to have children, when age, even into your 40s, is only one of many factors.

Said celebrities believe the hollyweird propaganda of the 60s and on. A woman can have, and raise, a bastard child, be successful at a lucrative career, sans husband, and achieve complete self-actualization.

Hint: they (celebrity whores) lie, and women who fall for that nonsense live lives of desperation.

That last line saying that women decline in attractiveness after age 24 got a laugh from me. Seriously. You are so wrong. Males are on the hunt from day one and females maybe later but probably more aggressive. I cannot count the many times a male has told me about his beautiful girlfriend and when I met her she was pretty average. Anyway, biology trumps other considerations that come later with maturity or perhaps experience.

While some women can bear children just fine well into their 40s, it seems true that, for any given woman, her odds of bearing a healthy child is better at 25 than 45.

A relative had 2 children in her teens, then had healthy twins at 39, and she wasn’t even trying. A 21 year gap in the children’s ages.

Plenty of women have fully natural pregnancies and healthy babies in their early 40s...

HOWEVER, and this is a BIG however, there are far higher risks for complications and as the article truthfully states, fertility is much less at that age.

If your goal is to have children, like it or not, peak fertility for women is from their teens to 20s by 30s it is dropping and by 40s the window is rapidly closing.

What Does happen with these Celebs I. Their 40s having children is most are having some sort of help, which is never talked about. So it sets up a complete false narrative and unrealistic expectations.

If your goal is marriage and children, your best bet is to not put it off.

I say this as someone who has had children in his 20s through his 40s, and my partner is the same age as I am.

Not only having them younger more likely from a fertility standpoint, believe me dealing with a young child in your 20s is a hell of a lot easier than doing so in your 40s

Exactly - many factors. Sometimes the husband has a condition causing infertility.

“I agree some women have fertility issues and may have problems after a certain age. However, I think they may also be the same women who had issues getting pregnant to begin with. IMHO.”

You’re most likely right.
Especially with the current crop of soy boys.

With that said, I wonder how decades of birth control use screwed up their reproductive system. Fooling your body into thinking you’re pregnant can’t be good in the long term.

Guys tend to want to date younger women. Not all, but most of the time. A woman of 22 will have available men from 21 to 40+ being interested in dating her.

A woman's pool of prospective suitors shrinks every year. The good men get snatched up as each year goes by, until by age 40 the pickings are slim.

As far as women who you thought less attractive than their boyfriends did, a lot of a woman's desirability comes from her attitude and enthusiasm. My wife is no longer the cute girl with the perky breasts I first met close to 40 years ago, but she still strives to make an effort to keep me happy.

How many cat ladies were duped by society to believe they had complete control over their lives so they would not marry in their 20s. Now they are all alone with their cats and wine boxes.

Women don’t want to hear it, but their attractiveness peaks in their early 20s. If they are not attracting the kind of man they want at 24, things are unlikely to be better at 34.

At 24, they concentrate on attracting, not "Mr. Right" but "Mr. Right NOW!" (like in the men's bathroom of the nightclub)

By the time they're 34, they look for Mr. Right, but her tastes and expectations have changed because she is jaded, and she no longer can muster attraction to or for most of the remaining unmarried males.

Wife Goggles.

You have to have been a man's wife from his youth for that to work.

Well, she was in her early 20’s when I first met her, so yes.

Another point in favor of marrying in your 20’s

When you have a staff of poorly paid illegal alien immigrants to care for your child it is easy. Kids are merely a fashion accessory.

At 24, they are chasing the limited number of “alpha males”, the guys in the top 5-10% of desirability, heedless of the fact that each woman has several other women competing with her for his attention.

For the alpha males it’s great. They can get a woman who is going to try very hard to please him, then dump her when she starts making insistent noises about commitment, moving on to the next.

Meanwhile, women are spending their youth on men who are never going to commit, and winding up in their 30s bitter, cynical, and with few good prospects.

That’s an important point. And then there’s the woman’s general health and health history.

I think there would be less experience of infertility if women learned fertility awareness and were taught the health practices, including diet, that would give them a better chance of conceiving.

I read that, of all the cases of couples struggling to conceive, one-third are about the woman’s infertility, one-third the man’s infertility, and one-third both or undetermined.

Before fertility clinics existed, some couples who married young did not conceive until they were much older. Sometimes life happens when least expected.

It’s not unusual for women to have babies in their forties.
My grandmother had her forth when she was 45. I had my eighth when I was 39.

The ones on birth control most of their lives might be surprised that it’s hard to start having kids when they begin trying in their forties though.
