The mass walkout came after Basecamp chief executive and co-founder Jason Fried published a blog post on Monday explaining new rules adopted by the company, including a ban on "societal and political discussions on our company Basecamp account."

He also announced the end of some "paternalistic" employee benefits, such as fitness and continuing education allowances, and said there would be "no more lingering or dwelling on past decisions."

It is possible that Roger Goodell, of all people, could have nipped some of this nonsense in the bud. Had he come out and stated the truth that nobody has freedom of speech on the job, things might have been different. Now every leftist dolt thinks he has complete freedom to say whatever he wants at any time. If you get a job as a server in a steak house and wear a “meat is murder” shirt to work and castigate diners for eating steak, you won’t last long on the job.

We have lost the freedom of association and other freedoms because government now rules the actions of individuals and private organizations and businesses. Even that’s not enough; now they want to control what you think.

I find this surprising.

On the other hand, a lot more libs working in software development than there used to be. Thirty years ago, almost no one working in software development was liberal.

Back in the 1980’s there was one defense contractor in Loudoun County that forbid employees from talking about non-job related matters during the workday.

“About a third of the employees at US productivity software firm Basecamp have announced their resignations after the company banned political conversations in the workplace.”

I guess that third wasn’t into productivity.

“Sensitivities are at 11, and every discussion remotely related to politics, advocacy, or society at large quickly spins away from pleasant,” he wrote.

“You shouldn’t have to wonder if staying out of it means you’re complicit, or wading into it means you’re a target.”

Snip

“We make project management, team communication, and email software. We are not a social impact company... We don’t have to solve deep social problems,” Fried added.

Yup.

The tech world, for the most part, cheered on CornPop and Harris. The cheered on two people that shouldn’t even been in the race due to lack of support in money and people. They cheered a man that says that foreign workers have every right to compete with American workers for jobs. They cheered for a man that say he is going to open the H1B visa floodgates so all those tech jobs can go to folks from India, Pakistan and any other foreigner, with a sliver of computer skills, can come here and take their jobs for a 1/3 of what they were making.

They helper usher out the one person that shut down the H1B visa pipeline that has allowed so many of them to get jobs, keep jobs and make more money.

I guess they’ll all become very successful consultants or invent the next Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, etc etc etc etc and become billionaires overnight. It could happen.

Many big companies have been infiltered by the democrats and are doing nothing but woke crap. One company I heard of was demanding employees make “ethics” complaints, meaning the company was soliciting false statements just so employees could shut the executive up. They even require twice weekly meetings to discuss liberal politics of hating white people. Another company I know actually told their employees to “give up their privilege” to others, including giving up their jobs.

Translation: We were using these discussions to out non-liberals so we could get them fired.

I suspect the elimination of benefits was the real reason. Every tech employee thinks there is a company dying to hire them to Google stuff all day long while they swing in their hammock with a dog. These people need to be unemployed.

The ending of “paternalistic benefits” sounds more like the company is out of money and desperately cutting costs. Always a good time to leave.

Ya think?

This is ONE company out of thousands. And a relatively small one at that.

I’d LOVE to see this happen at Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Apple, Cisco, Oracle, Verizon, AT&T, VMWare, SAP, Salesforce, Adobe, Intuit, Symantec, etc., etc., etc., but it would be easier just to list the not-woke software companies!

Seems to me, these folks were never outright informed:
“You are here to work. Anything that gets in the way of work, and you’re fired.”

Yup, I looked it up.

Basecamp has 34 employees.

Amazon has 798,000! Most working as warehouse and delivery, but still a LOT of techies.

Microsoft has 175,000 (I used to be one).

Apple 147,000.

Google 135,000.

Oracle: 135,000.

We got a LONG ways to go to make this a trend...

I guess that third wasn’t into productivity.

Basecamp may have done this for precisely that reason.

My first thought exectly but the Company did replace the benefits with equivelent compensation, so I’d be happy with that.

Your first sentence did hit the nail though...
