Oh yes...it is much cooler, but rainy as well. Tomorrow we are supposed to get a bit of Tropical Storm Elsa.
Wow! That is a special rose.
I tried a very fragrant petunia this year. It is a neon blue/lavender color, called Evening Scentsation, and is sold by Park Seed Company (parkseed.com). I grew them from seed. They are lovely and really do have more sweet scent than other petunias. I already bought more seed for next year. (Photos at parkseed.com)
I’ve always liked the sort of peppery scent of petunias. I’ll bet those blue ones are gorgeous!
The earthquakes were pretty uneventful.
They were felt over most of the state but I haven’t heard of any damage.
I heard they were very shallow therefore widespread but not violent like we have had in the past. Just a hard, quick shake.
I also tried “Fireball” marigold seeds from Park Seed this year, because it is a red/orange variety, and it is a winner too. They would do well in any part of our country.
They sound nice and bright but they give me hay fever.
I am in the minority who likes the smell of marigolds. š¤
I always liked them. They are not exotic enough for some gardeners.
I like that marigolds “want” to live. š
I love the cheeriness of them. The scent is just overpowering. I guess that’s why they are planted with other things to keep the pests away. :)

Bible in a Year:
Make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge.
The English preacher Charles H. Spurgeon (1834ā1892) lived life āfull throttle.ā He became a pastor at age nineteenāand soon was preaching to large crowds. He personally edited all of his sermons, which eventually filled sixty-three volumes, and wrote many commentaries, books on prayer, and other works. And he typically read six books a week! In one of his sermons, Spurgeon said, āThe sin of doing nothing is about the biggest of all sins, for it involves most of the others. . . . Horrible idleness! God save us from it!ā
Charles Spurgeon lived with diligence, which meant he ā[made] every effortā (2 Peter 1:5) to grow in Godās grace and to live for Him. If weāre Christās followers, God can instill in us that same desire and capacity to grow more like Jesus, to āmake every effort to add to [our] faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge . . . self-control, perseverance . . . godlinessā (vv. 5ā7).
We each have different motivations, abilities, and energy levelsānot all of us can, or should, live at Charles Spurgeonās pace! But when we understand all Jesus has done for us, we have the greatest motivation for diligent, faithful living. And we find our strength through the resources God has given us to live for and serve Him. God through His Spirit can empower us in our effortsābig and smallāto do so.
Reflect & Pray
How are you making every effort to grow more like Christ? What will help you in this endeavor?
Loving God, help me to be diligent to live for You in all I do and say. Thank You for enabling me to do so through Your Spirit inside me.

Darn spellcheck!
I found out that there is a way of turning auto-correct OFF.
Go into settings (or “tools”) and you might find the off switch!
I was having a real hard time with it until a fellow FReeper clued me in that I could turn it off!
Thank you!
That graphic was made by Billie in 2009. My, how time does fly.
It sure does. I still miss her and her beautiful posts! Does ANYone know how or where she is? I know she “really” lives somewhere close to me, but I’ve never met her. I still miss meg and others who are no longer around.
I gotta try that. However, I do have spelling problems of my own. LOL!
