This week, New Yorkers — who pride themselves on slinging the finest slices — found themselves dethroned and defeated in a shocking new ranking that gave its pizza a mere bronze medal. That’s according to Food & Wine Magazine‘s latest pizza report, which included a top 10 list of states where the pies reign supreme. Not only did New York place third, but its bitter rival, New Jersey, came in first. Adding insult to injury, Connecticut elbowed its way past the Empire State to claim second place.
The Garden State’s official Twitter account trumpeted the news by sharing a Food & Wine screenshot with the caption, “fact check: TRUE.”

“If you give another New Yorker a call and ask them what’s a good pizzeria in New Jersey, chances are they’re not going to be able to name one,” said Ahmed Elsayed, 28, a manager at L&B Spumoni Gardens — a popular pizzeria in Brooklyn’s Gravesend neighborhood.

What would a guy named "Ahmed" know about pizza?
Star Tavern also has Onion Blossoms. Yum!
For later.
I agree and also live in mid jersey west (Hunterdon) but good pizza isn’t readily available here.Need to go into the non-maga parts for pizza. But growing up in Philly I think there are just as good places there too.
The best pizza I can recall eating anywhere in America (real Italian Pizza Margarita makes you realize there is a God) was served up in a little place in Carlstadt, NJ. The crust was almost paper thin but not soggy, and the sauce was absolutely delicious. The other thing I remember fondly about New Jersey foods were the Greek owned roadside diners. Wouldn’t want to live in Jersey again. But that has nothing to do with the food.
There’s going to be a “Rumble “ over this.
The best pizza I every had was Tuscan mushroom pizza by Z Pizza. They used to have it Virginia near DC, but now I stay away from that area.
