Former Nevada Sen. Harry Reid believes US defense contractor Lockheed Martin may have once had fragments of a crashed UFO in its possession, it was revealed Friday.
Reid, 81, told The New Yorker that he had never actually seen proof of the remnants — but tried, unsuccessfully, to get approval from the Pentagon to find them.
“I was told for decades that Lockheed had some of these retrieved materials,” the Democrat told the magazine.
“And I tried to get, as I recall, a classified approval by the Pentagon to have me go look at the stuff. They would not approve that,” Reid continued. “I don’t know what all the numbers were, what kind of classification it was, but they would not give that to me.”

Reid has ufo fragments in his head.
That’s some bad hat, Harry...
It was the aliens that punched out Slimy Harry years ago—guess he didn’t get the message.
;-)
The book that publicized the “alien technology” view was:
https://www.amazon.com/Day-After-Roswell-Philip-Corso/dp/067101756X
I don’t believe it or disbelieve it—I don’t know what to make of it....
The notion that aliens would have technology just a little bit ahead of us (and not so far ahead that we would be totally unable to use the technology) is a bit far-fetched.
I would expect most highly intelligent alien life forms would be as disgusted by us as we are disgusted by worms or spiders.
UFO “fragments”? Meaning what? We shot one down, or one crashed, superior technology notwithstanding?
I kinda skipped over UFO as a teen in the 80s, only rediscovering them recently.
Damn, that guy is so good.
The “UFO community” explanation (fwiw—I am _not_ endorsing it) is that the 1940s and 1950s “flying saucers” could be disrupted by certain types of radar or atmospheric conditions, and there were crashes as a result.
If you want to read further on that topic the best book (currently rare) is probably:

It would look better if worn anally.
Thanks. Now that’s science fiction (1940’s radar brought down a flying saucer?). Maybe Covid will do them in, so we shouldn’t wear a mask or socially distance when encountering an alien.
Because the pandemic is not giving the result they want
I’m a former MUFON investigator and I find it MUCH easier to believe in sightings of them than to believe they are advanced enough to travel through interstellar space only to end up crashing here.
Who is on first. Whats on second.
MUFON? Cool. I’ve often wondered the same thing.
If some civilization had the math, the ability and the means to travel the vast distances of the universe only to get here and crash then they have some issues going on the need to address.
The other thing I’ve also wondered is: How would they even find us down here?
Harry IS an alien.
Sure, they're in my filing cabinet. A larger chunk sits in the corner of the cafeteria. Everybody know that.
Aliens would not be immune to fate any less than we are. They’re aliens, not gods.
We humans unconsciously assume "they" may be remotely like us. That is almost certainly an error. They are most likely not like us at all. It's possible that some “objects” we see that display impossible maneuvering abilities aren't ships but living beings that are not corporeal as we experience it. I'm speaking of some of the 'balls of light' objects. They may be capable of travel in a way we do not understand at all.
The ones that look more metallic and substantial may be probes. Their sizes and shapes may relate to propulsion rather than cabin space. I don't think beings waste time coming here in ships, flit and leave without even stopping by for coffee. They know all they need to know about us and we don't even know if they are secretly guiding us somehow or just studying us like we study germs.
Nothing new. He has been a friend of the UFO folks for decades.
We’ve been sending out signals for more than a century.
We practically “glow” to anyone who wanted to find us.
