Tomorrow will be 14 days after second moderna shot in alabama. The day after second shot was like having the flu. Day 2 was back to normal. Did not want to get the shot but wife has lupus and daughter asthma so I did it.

“Cases substantially downward.”

How much of that is from reducing the cycle count of the PCR covid tests after inauguration day?

For some reason the “anti-vaxxers” all seem to be in your face, belligerent, loud mouth d’bag’s.

I'm basically ambivalent one way or another.....You are and older person especially with other health issues, it's probably not a bad idea for you to get one, others, maybe not so much.

But either way, it's a personal decision and I've got no business sanctimoniously judging a person's personal decision.

J&J shot would have been the best of the lot but it is morally and ethically compromised.

My wife just told me an almost unbelievable story but she knows it to be true so....

She’s a school librarian and the parents of a young women she works with were both vaccinated at the same time and BOTH came down with the Covid 19 infection simultaneously. Their symptoms were exceptionally bad and were both admitted to the hospital last week.

Well, they both ended up on respirators and earlier today they simultaneously pulled the plug on both and neither will likely make it through the night. These people were both in their 50’s!

Now my question is, WHAT ARE THE FREAKIN ODDS???

Any guesses at where we will top off? It looks likely we will get to about 60%.

With 10% of the population having had Covid itself that should get us close to the 70% number for herd immunity.

Wife just updated me, they both just passed. So sorry for the daughter, how devastating.

If anyone else had told me this story I would have flat condemned them for being a dam% liar. Absolutely unimaginable.

How exactly does reducing the cycle count of a PCR test reduce the case count?

I think the reduced cycle count makes for a “weaker” result than a longer cycle count which will I.D. smaller amount of anti-bodies.

Weaker result meaning if some small trace of anti-bodies are present, a reduced cycle count won’t find them.

Maybe when JnJ is more readily available again numbers will tick up. I always figured that a one-and-done vaccine would win out but it ran into a number of problems as you know. Also figured, for the right or wrong reasons, perception of the JnJ is it different from the mRNA vaccines.

But I did suspect that we may run into a demand wall at some point. A little earlier than expected. Perhaps due to cases and deaths declining. Perhaps due to wider apprehension due to the “pause” of JnJ causing wider fear about vaccination in general... or who knows what other reasons we can read about them here every day ;-)

Maybe some people just have no faith left in what public officials say so they suffer from paralysis in making a decision. I consider myself at least partially in that boat. I have no strong feelings either way about the vaccines. I have strong feeling about people who lie, cheat, spin and flip-flop constantly. My personal opinion is, I can wait a bit. I don’t go anywhere or see anyone. Work home work home 6 mile drive. Cook at home. Most people at work are vaccinated. In any case we still maintain great social distances. My biggest risk is the wife who does the shopping, she may bring the virus home but where we live, cases are and have been extremely low both in raw numbers and as a % of the area population.

They’re gonna have to do better than a free uber ride, a year’s worth of donuts, a free cocktail and $25 in free slot play to bribe more people into getting vaccinated.

I work in an ER and spent plenty of time in Covid patient rooms back in wave 1. Not so much anymore though. The problem we were having initially back then was false negatives which was frequently due to poor specimens/poor specimen collection. These people were clearly sick AF but the tests were negative so they increased the sensitivity of the test which basically amounts to turning the magnification up on a microscope. Even recently there has been some disagreement between rapid tests and send off PCR tests. I heard a doctor bitching about it. The PCR test is considered more accurate. The idea that increasing the cycle count somehow turns a negative sample into a positive sample is misleading. The sample was only negative because it was a poor sample, not because the patient didn't have Covid.

I have had people grab my hands when I go to swab them and refuse to allow me to obtain a sample from the nasopharynx as we are supposed to on more than a few times-grown ass adults mind you. With Covid, I was pretty insistent but they would still pull away and make getting a good sample difficult.

That’s terrible. How do they relate the vaccine to the positive diagnosis? Doesn’t it take a few days or week for a viral infection to take hold and show positive on the test? Is it possible they both were infected sometime in the last week and this vaccine relationship a mere coincidence?

Surely someone else at the clinic would have come down sick if it had anything to do with the site or the vaccine concoction.

Prayers for them both. Maybe the doctors should just try ivermectin? What’s to lose if they are going to pull the plug anyway?

I guess the debate still rages... is it is poor sample, or a poor test?

The early tests required some deep digging into the nasal passages. Uncomfortable. The later tests didn’t go so deep. Not sure if or how that is relevant.

"How much of that is from reducing the cycle count of the PCR covid tests after inauguration day?"

There was a huge drop after inauguration day (actually starting Jan 8, shortly after the electoral votes were certified on the 6th). After that huge drop (about 75%), there was a smaller wave for about a month. We now seem to be distinctly on the downhill side of that wave. It looks even better in the five days since this chart:

Exactly, and some of these people were pretty uncooperative and, to be sure, some nurses just flat out didn’t do it right. It sucked though because it was hard for us to know what an acutely ill Covid patient really looked like at first and that’s something we needed to know so we needed those test results but it would take days to get them back and, by then, they had been sent to the ICU so those of us in the ER never got the full picture there. And then the test would be negative but we would have all of this other data that said there’s no way it’s negative. So they started looking harder. I don’t think it had anything to do with PDJT. We were just trying to figure this virus out.

A lot of unanswered questions but the fact that they both became seriously ill at their age with Covid 19 vaccinated or not is inexplicable.

“Surely someone else at the clinic would have come down sick if it had anything to do with the site or the vaccine concoction.”

Exactly, so it’s pretty certain the vaccine was NOT the cause.

You missed my next posting.....they both passed.

“Second day after my second Pfizer shot.

No negative side effects.

I seem to have dropped some ugly belly fat, without dieting or exercise. Chicks seem to dig me more.”
****************************************************
Same thing happened to me after my second Moderna shot. My wife didn’t like the chicks digging me more aspect. Because she got her second shot also on the same day, she quickly got her revenge. She was already attractive but became even more so and turned even more heads than normal. We may both need to restrict our time away from home to avoid temptation.
