A bill in the Nevada state legislature would strike the term mother and father on birth certificates and authorize an unlimited number of adults to be listed.
“We need to contact the Senate Judiciary Members and urge them to oppose AB 115,” the Nevada Family Alliance, a program of Capitol Resource Institute,” said in a statement.
“The passing of this bill could bring complicated and dangerous implications for parents across Nevada.”
The bill was heard this week in the Senate Judiciary Committee. It already passed in the Assembly, where it was sponsored by Assemblywoman Cecelia González (see image), a Democrat.
The Pacific Justice Institute, a legal defense organization specializing in the defense of religious freedom and parental rights, opposes the proposed legislation:
“What this Bill does is radically re-define the parent-child relationship to ask the courts to allow a group of adults (three or more) to have a legally recognized parent-child relationship,” the Sacramento-based institute wrote in submitted testimony.
“This expanded definition is not in the best interest of the child. The Bill offers no functional framework in which a court is to apply this expanded definition.”
If everyone is responsible, no one is.

Perhaps the incentive to be listed is a chance at some ghetto lottery dollars, should the cops whack their precious child.

If a child can be male or female depending on what it feels like, why can't it have whatever parents it feels like, too?
The science is just as valid for one as the other, right? The fact that it's the product of ONE sperm and ONE egg is just superstition, just like the fact it's either XX or XY. They both are antiquated concepts designed to stifle our freedom and individuality!
But let's get the language straight. If a child with no parents is an orphan, what is a child with multiple parents? An orgy-an?
If you have non-genetic parents of several ethnic backgrounds (6 or more) do you get to check off every box on the Census form and in job applications?
The Godless can't allow God parents to exist, now can they?

Perhaps. When I adopted my daughter, my name was placed on her birth certificate.
I met her mom when she was a toddler.
That being said, should a child whose mom was, how shall I put this, less than totally exclusive to her husband, be denied a loving father who is and was married to her mother when she was conceived? Would demanding a DNA test and the statistically more likely of a "you ain't the daddy, you cain't be on the birth certificate" family breakup be in anyone's interest?
I’m gonna have to think about that. I can see how it might not suit all situations.
