At 2 PM EST on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, was the US Capitol building in Washington DC open to the public?
If this is the case legally, I would say all they can be charged with might be jumping around the entrance security requirements. Even for public access I could understand a weapons check at the door. And this could be the only building access restriction. Bringing in any weapons.
Inspirational! And this:
"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." John Stuart Mill English economist & philosopher (1806 - 1873)
> So you think they should go to prison? <
No. But at least a few of them went above and beyond simple trespass. I would treat them as I would treat exactly like I’d treat an Antifa type who trashed a county courthouse. Prison? Not for a first offense. But probation and considerable community service? Yep. Have them pick up trash on the side of the road for a couple of weeks.
I guess for me the bottom line is this. As conservatives we shouldn’t be condemning Antifa, and then at the same time be making excuses for the worst of the Jan 6th folks.
My understanding is that there was one firearm found outside of the Capital; no firearms found inside.
That seems to take away the argument that January 6th was an "Armed Insurrection".
I highly doubt that Pelosi would allow it open to the public on that day.
She knew perfectly well why so many citizens were coming to DC.
I absolutely agree... :)
Because Antifa would stay between the Velvet Ropes taking Selfies...

Some of the Jan 6th folks did just that. Those folks should be left alone. But some of them ran all over the place. And as I’m sure you know, Pelosi’s office was trashed. Those folks didn’t mean any real harm. It was exuberance more than anything else.
Nevertheless, we shouldn’t pretend that what they did was perfectly fine.
Nope, they were Trespassers and should have been Cited.
Instead, they are treated like Traitorous Seditionists, many of whom are still in Jail with no Bail Set for them.
They are being treated like Murderers.
they may be one and the same
“I guess for me the bottom line is this. As conservatives we shouldn’t be condemning Antifa, and then at the same time be making excuses for the worst of the Jan 6th folks.”
What did any person there do that is in any way similar to the leftist rioters?
I agree with you there. Even the worst of the Jan 6th folks should have just been cited for trespass, and then released on bail.
Back in the 1930s the Nazis needed an excuse to grab power. The Reichstag fire gave them that excuse. Today’s fascist left needed an excuse to grab power. The Jan 6th events gave them that excuse.
History repeats.
Then they needed an excuse for going after the Jews, then a low-level Nazi functionary was shot in Paris in 1938.
No, I don't know that.
Some guy sat in the holy chair and put his feet on her desk.
That, dear boy, is not Trashed.
“Dear boy”? Is that meant to be condescending or a compliment? I’ll take the high road and assume it’s a compliment. Thank you.
Anyway, here’s an article about the trashing of Pelosi’s office. And please note that it’s from the NY Post, a conservative newspaper.

Does that look TRASHED to you?
I saw EXACTY what I described. Some guy sat in the holy chair and put his feet on her desk.
So who am I going to believe an article written by people who were not there or my lying eyes?
“And as I’m sure you know, Pelosi’s office was trashed.”
Oh. It. Was Not. If it had been, “they” would have inundated the media with pictures, which they didn’t. Some goofball sat in her scuzzy chair (hope he didn’t catch something) and put his feet on her desk. Someone said a laptop was taken, but as their default mode is lying, it would be stupid to believe that.
Check out this video. The doors were opened and police, with marked jackets, were standing alongside the hallway as the protestors walked on by.

True that. But you need to read the entire article. Folks didn’t just sit in a chair, and then leave. They flipped over tables, and went through desks. And some guy evidently stole Pelosi’s podium.
I get that Democrats are making too much of this. They are treating the event as if it were some kind of armed revolt. It wasn’t. But many conservatives are making too little of it. We should not be defending the excesses, or explaining them away. Wrong is wrong.
If any of this happened then there would be tangible evidence of it. None has been presented that I am aware of. Who took Piglosi's laptop? Where is it now? The most powerful police force on the plant is trying to implicate conservatives in some sort of phony-baloney "insurrection" - where is the evidence?
