Food company and restaurant chain Nathan’s Famous just launched its first vegan hot dog. The new plant-based Coney Island hot dog is made in partnership with vegan brand The Meatless Farm and features its pea protein-based sausage spiced with Nathan’s Famous 100-year-old secret seasoning blend. Currently, the hot dog is available at Nathan’s Famous online retail shop as a kit ($44.99) that includes six Nathan’s Famous Meatless Farm Hot Dogs, buns, and a bottle of Nathan’s Famous Deli Style Mustard. The kit is available for delivery nationwide.
“As plant-based menu items continue to grow in popularity, we are excited to launch the first ever gourmet, plant-based hot dog, a product created not just for our flexitarian, vegetarian, and vegan customers, but all who enjoy a healthier diet,” James Walker, Senior Vice President of Nathan’s Famous Restaurants, said. “We’ve spent a great deal of time perfecting this hot dog and making sure that those who know and love Nathan’s one-of-a-kind flavor, as well as those that might not have tried a Nathan’s hot dog due to diet, can now enjoy an option that fits their lifestyle. We are looking forward to growing a new customer base with this partnership with Meatless Farm and know their high-quality ingredients are the way to deliver what our customers have come to expect of the original Nathan’s Famous hot dog.”

“Must miss!”
Meatless meat? As a proud, lifelong, member of PETA (People Eating Tasty Animals) I have no desire to experience such a thing.
Nathan’s Pea Protein Sausages just doesn’t sound right.
No one is going to show up at their next eating contest.
Yuck. I’ll stick with my Swaggerty’s brats.
Never really liked their hot dogs anyway.
Mmmmm... bratwurst...
Hot Chemicals! Git yur Hot Chemicals!
Nathan cut his weener off and is planning to run for gov of ca.
No sale. Heavily processed veggie glop in tube form. I’ll just stick with the all-beef Hebrew National dogs, thanks.
And the formula is based on peas? Won’t the hot dogs come out green?
I always thought that was a bad sign in hot dogs...
“Textured Vegetable Protein” has been around a while, and it was getting slipped into meat products like hamburger and bacon-flavored chips for years. These products are “extenders” that were originally intended to produce the market item “cheaper”. They were also sold as having a much longer shelf life.
If it is a vegan hot dog why is it made to taste like MEAT!
If I want something that tastes like MEAT I will eat MEAT!
If I want something made of veges I will eat veges.
yup.
It really that simple people.
Meh, never liked their hotdogs anyhow, that just me tho.
The whole world is fooooooookked...
Never had any and certainly won’t now.
So, $8 each with tax, title and license and you still have to add your own pickles and onions. That’s ridiculous. I’ll stick to the cheapo meat franks and store brand bun for 27 cents each with all the fixin’s. Let’s see, hmmm, 8 pea dogs vs. 175 meat dogs...
That’s like saying a man can be a woman.
Just another game of hide-the-weenie.
Relatives visited, who are vegan. I purchased the Beyond Brats and grilled for them. Tried one and it was nasty. I mean NASTY!
