His wife, Pat, actually thought of it first, while watching Donald Trump on the Phil Donahue Show. The former President Nixon agreed with her enough to write Trump and let him know.

Also, Nixon was a globalist traitor. Those are the reasons I dispise him.
Apologies, substitute the first n for another t in ‘Brenton’
Trump's people should craft an electronic display upon entering the Trump Presidential Library, maybe 80 feet wide by 50 feet high, and feature this letter, among many other predictions made that Trump would be President...
“I’m a Consevative, you should try being one, and not worship liberal traitors.”
This is a fair and consistent position to hold, from your political perspective.
I just want to know, who hasn’t been a globalist President since at least FDR? Maybe 1960 was the “water shed year,” when the Federal government under JFK and continued under LBJ, started spending like a drunken sailor.
America’s choice in 1968 was Nixon(a somewhat liberal Republican), Humphrey(a liberal Democrat),& Wallace.(a “throw away” vote for Southern segregationists)
In 1972 it was Nixon vs McGovern. McGovern got blown out, “big time.”
Who were people supposed to vote for in those 2 elections?
“if you were not a debt whore/globalist/Chinese Messiah/Middle-East meddler.”
That pretty much describes every Presidential administration of both parties, since Eisenhower minus the “Chinese messiah” remark.
Every administration since then has been a debt whore/internationalist/Middle-East meddler. Ike kept us out of the Suez Crisis of 1957.
Every administration since then would’ve been “all in” on that one.(including Nixon’s administration)
Nixon made an appearance at Oxford in 1978 (see youtube below - he spends most of the time answering the student’s questions. REALLY good!).

He predicts (18:40) that before the end of the century, a graduate from Oxford will probably be the president of the USA. In 1978, Bill Clinton was an alumni and was Attorney General of Arkansas and rising quickly.
Nixon was certainly to the right of JFK.
The 1968 race was between Nixon and Rockefeller. All the pundits said the Republicans should not nominate Nixon because he was too conservative and "unelectable."
Nixon did some things in office modern free market conservatives would not have done, but he inherited such a mess from JFK/LBJ he couldn't fight on every front, especially with the Dems holding both houses.
Reaganism passed 1950's conservative by and Nixon too. It's easy to throw bricks at him in 2021, but that's the error of historical anachronism the left makes so often.
I’ve lived it and nearly died for it in Vietnam. President Nixon fought the treasonous Democrats though they eventually got rid of him but he kept the faith.
Any man who is hated by the Left is my buddy. Anybody who had imagination and the courage to defuze the Cold War while maintaining the pressure on the NVA, supported us.
And you think that founding OSHA and the EPA were bad things? You must not have worked in factory like I did, in the “good old days” with open pots of molten lead for fixing the bolts holding dies for the drop hamme (and idiots heating their lunches in them) open degreasing vats with powerful fumes of percholethylene giving you nonstop headaches and no one knows what cancers.
Grow up. You aren’t a “conservative” - you’re just a malcontent.
“And you think that founding OSHA and the EPA were bad things?”
Both OSHA and the EPA were needed at the time. Still needed, but the trouble is they end up going from providing some degree of safety (for workers and the environment) to the over-the-top stuff we see now.
Such as the EPA now regulating carbon dioxide as a dangerous gas!
Reagan and Trump.
All government programs grow the bureaucracy. That’s why there so bad.
Nixon was good on Vietnam, but he was a Globalist. He advanced the satanic globalist agenda, and whoever does that will never, ever be supported by me.
That is exactly why we are in the situation we are in today since 1964. Reagan, Trump and a bunch of globalists.
Good post.
I thoroughly enjoy the members of Free Republic, who are older than me and have a historical perspective.
I wasn’t born till 1971, but I still remember how pissed my father was about Watergate. I’m paraphrasing, because I was only three and didn’t know anything about politics.
My father said something like “Nixon’s out” those suckers “got him out.” I assume looking back he meant the Democrats, some Republicans, & the media.
Reagan difused the Cold War by ending it. Nixon use to call people like William F Buckley and Reagan nuts. He did stand up to the far left, athough more of those commie brats should have been shot at Kent State. One of my biggest heroes are the NY hardhats.
M. Stanton Edward’s said that Watergate was one of Nixon’s good things.
“Moved the goal post to Ike for some strange reason.”
Not any stranger than moving the goalposts back to Andrew Jackson.
The last time any Congress tried to pay down the debt were the Congresses from 1920-1930. 11 straight budget surpluses and they cut 1/3 off the National debt, much of it incurred because of WW1. Those legislators were the “opposite of debt whores.” The American people didn’t give rip about them either. FDR won 4 straight elections starting in 1932, so much for “fiscal restraint.”
It doesn’t matter if you have a central bank, independent treasury department, or the Federal Reserve System.
Financiers can operate successfully in the all three systems.
