Thought this had to be the Bee. You gotta admit that, regardless of how serious it it, it’s actually getting funny.

This sounds like Rules Of Engagement from the Afghanistan war. It didn’t always work there either.

So the criminal suspects run off, while the police stop and call their supervisor to ask permission????
And as they wait for permission, the suspects have scurried away.

Just give the runners a “Be my guest! certificate at Apple or Nike.” if they stop running/driving away.

Satire is getting too close to real life.
It's hard to tell the difference in some cases.
You can't even make some of this stuff up.

This is ludicrous but given the state of police affairs in the country, most police officer probably wouldn’t pursue the criminals anyway....
Why bother, don’t lose your life or career, clean up the mess after someone dies or seriously injured....

It's loony enough these days that when I first read the headline I assumed it meant the police must ask permission of the perp before chasing him.
Give it time... that'll be the next evolution.

i was thinking the same thing. how to make the police less effective. the goal is control.
Police: permission to chase suspect
HQ(SJW): is he black?
Police: yes
HQ(SJW): permission denied
