Same thing happened at the airport where I fly a jump plane; guy was hot-dogging it coming down and at about a hundred feet while spinning went horizontal with his ‘chute and wound up dumping the air from his sport ‘chute and came crashing down. Wonder if this guy did the same thing.

Most jump sites have a 1,000 foot ceiling. Allows you enough time to deploy your secondary chute if there’s an issue. When I was jumping, I was required to have an Automatic Activation Device that would deploy my chute if I was in freefall and under 1,000 feet.

Students were required to be self aware of their altitude and wave off their instructor at 5,000 feet.
