Two Hundred and Forty-six years ago we stood up and kicked Redcoat butt from Lexington and Concord all the way back to Boston. Remember our Patriots Today. Post comments and reflections here.
Please excuse my title - should read Patriots’, not Patriot’s
I noticed thirty five years ago that this day is conveniently forgotten by the newspapers. No editorials about it at all back then.
the shot heard round the world
Happy 4-19 to you FRiend! Molon Labe!, indeed...
A fun day is Patriots’ Day in the Boston, Lexington, Concord area...
Parades, musters, re-inactors and good food and drink...How folks reconcile recalling and re-inacting the events of 1776 with their squirly Massachusetts politics (especially gun control) of today is beyond my comprehension...
After all, King George’s troops’ attempts to disarm his subjects was likely the biggest factor in kicking off the shooting war that became our Revolution...
Here in MA it’s a holiday. Hardly anyone gets it off, but they used to reenact the battles of L&C.
They also use the date to dump on Paul Revere. It seems that every year they add someone to the list of riders. I think this year they will come up with a handicapped Asian Lesbian who rode hard to alarm the people in Fitchburg.
(I am kidding about that last part.)
“By the crude bridge That arched the flood,
Their flags to April’s breeze unfurled;
There the embattled farmers stood
And fired the shot heard ‘round the world.”
Sadly, these days it's hard to tell a lot of times.

Ping!
I visited Lexington and Concord while on vacation in 2019. Great to walk in the footsteps of such Great Patriots.
