OUR WASHINGTON DISPATCHES.
WASHINGTON, Tuesday, April 16.
A rumor is circulating in town that the Government has received a dispatch from Pensacola announcing the commencement of the bombardment of Fort Pickens. This is erroneous, and if an attack has been made the Government has no advices of the fact.
Maryland has responded, through her constituted authorities, announcing that she will promptly furnish her quota of men for the maintenance of the Government.
Baltimore is reported as strong for the Union. There is to be a large meeting there of Minute Men to-night, and it is understood that two regiments will be raised on the spot to-night. The editor of the Clipper is among the leaders of the Union men. There are threats of destruction of the Clipper office, but it will not be permitted by the people, although some of the leading officials and military men in that City are rank Secessionists.
No official advices yet from Delaware. But there is good reason to believe that she will not fail in her duty in the present crisis.
The Secretary of War has received dispatches to-day from Gov. MACGOFFIN, of Kentucky, that he could not respond to the call for forces, and that no soldiers would, with his consent, leave the State to coerce any of the Southern sisters of Kentucky. A private dispatch is also received by a gentleman connected with a strong Union paper in Kentucky, stating that the State authorities would allow no troops to join the Federal forces, nor any Federal force to pass through the State. There was great excitement throughout the State upon the reception of the proclamation.

SIGH, we will pine for the days of only Fort Pickens being attacked.
So it begins. Father again son, brother against brother...
Sad.
