He infamously quit the music industry at the height of his stardom after becoming burnt out trying to shed his boy next door pop persona.
But almost 20 years later, Rick Astley has made a comeback on TikTok - and is already seeing success with the younger generation.
Speaking on Channel Nine's Today on Friday, the 55-year-old said it was 'kind of nuts' to think that his iconic track, Never Gonna Give You Up, was still a big hit.

Anyone notice that there are some white singers with just as powerful voices as black singers? Darryl Hall and Robert Palmer comes to mind.

One of my favourites. I actually transcribed the scat part at the beginning, years ago.

They realized if they produced original programming they could license it for home video and syndication.

“... so all the fun would be lost before the video even starts.”
That would have been hilarious!

Redneck Rampage is the only video game I spent any time playing. The “redneck high-rise” in the video reminds me of the Clinton Library.

Nope. MTV went mainstream programming long before the internet and youtube. Loooong before. Management found they could make more money on shows than music videos and the DJ’s stopped working for peanuts..

Yes, they are blue-eyed soul singers. Michael McDonald, David Clayton Thomas and Mick Hucknall are some more.

It’ll be 24 years, come July. Nevermind, it’s Daily Mail.

Any video that used to be played on MTV is instantly available on YouTube on demand. Sometimes it's fun to pull them up randomly. The other night, I checked out "She Blinded Me With Science" by Thomas Dolby. Hadn't seen that one in a while.
You have to sit through a 15 second commercial on most of them. I think for a monthly fee you can get it without the ads. But I don't really care too much so long as they are 15 seconds or less.
Almost all the videos have "VEVO" watermarked on them. I believe that is an outfit that actually hosts the videos and sends revenue back to the copyright owners. Hopefully the artists as well.

Every time I hear it, I think of Rush. It was in his bumper rotation.
