While the age of consent in the country was previously 15, prosecutors had to prove the intercourse was non-consensual in order to get a rape conviction. […] What am I not understanding here?! If a child can't give consent (e.g., because it's under 15), then any intercourse with it is per definitionem non-consensual!!
I.e., even if the child says PLEASE HAVE SEX WITH ME!, it can't give consent, the sex is therefore non-consensual, and the (adult) partner is therefore guilty.
