Researchers with the Voyageurs Wolf Project in northern Minnesota showed off their first-ever wolf collar camera footage.
They fitted a GPS collar camera to a lone wolf last spring. The camera captures 30 seconds of video at the top of every hour, for 42 consecutive days.
The cameras captured more than four hours of the wolf eating fish and deer, watching birds, walking through the woods, and of course, sleeping.
Researchers found the wolf’s fishing activity "fascinating" because previously they had only documented wolves from a single pack hunting fish at the creek. They say it "provides insight into the genesis and persistence of unique predation behaviors in wolf populations."
Thanks to ButThreeLeftsDo for the article. Interesting idea, essentially a GoPro on the wolf's tracking collar. Can't wait for bear cam and lion cam. Pictures from another source. Video at the link

I never thought about wolves eating fish, but why not?
You’d think fish would be dangerous due to their bones.
Wolves.....our friends in the woods!
Pet one today!
Too bad the cam didn’t record the wolf being gut-shot by a .223. Maybe next time.
A TRUE sportsman would make sure the shot was an instant kill, without causing undue suffering.
I know how wolves and coyotes kill their prey. It doesn’t mean we have to be vindictive and be joyful by causing undue pain and suffering.
Having hunted many years, I get upset with myself if I don’t make a clean shot. Fortunately, there have been very few.
There is a reason why people gut-shoot them.
It is illegal to shoot them, so you don’t want them dying in the back 40 where someone will find them.
It’s safer to gut-shoot them with a FMJ bullet that leaves no trace and causes them to run off and die miles away.
That is how its done in MI’s UP.
They put live fish in a small pond in the lion enclosure at the San Diego Zoo. It’s not their normal prey, but they figure it out.
The day I was there, the female caught a fish. The male grabbed it, the female caught the other fish.
How about shoot, shovel, and shut up?
I understand your point. I wonder if you could make the case that the animal was about to attack and you were in fear of your life?
that is only good for liberals
really stupid people are surprised that just about any animal will eat whatever is easiest to get to. Minimum energy expended for the most calories available. that is called survival in the wild.
That’s why I eat at Burger King. Easiest to get into and out of traffic. Multiple entrance and exits.
