On Aaron Hicks and the mental exhaustion of being Black in America [barf alert]
Yahoo Sports ^ | April 13 2021 | Shalise Manza Young

On Monday, New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks became the face of what so many other Black Americans were feeling.

Distraught at the news that yet another Black man, this time Daunte Wright, had been killed by police in a Minneapolis suburb, Hicks approached manager Aaron Boone and begged out of the night's lineup, when the Yankees were set to face the Toronto Blue Jays.

Thankfully, Boone supported Hicks, and defended him against those who inevitably would and did question Hicks' decision, telling reporters that "my consideration is with Aaron and his well-being, and making sure that as best we can we support him and try to be there for him as best we can right now."

I’m mentally exhausted from hearing all the non-stop ranting and raving done by blacks, and assorted other constantly complaining minorities.

I also liked Kerri Strug, who nailed her landing on a severly sprained ankle. She chose to do it, and she was 18 years old at the time, a young adult, for those who think Bela Karolyi made her do it.

The oppressed Mr. Hicks is in the middle of a 7-year, $70 million contract, all of it guaranteed. He is currently batting .129 with 1 home run. Last year, he batted ,225 with 6 home runs. In 2019, he batted ,235 with 12 home runs.

Aaron Hicks signed a $70,000,000.00 contract and making $10.5 million this year

Isn't that precious? He gets paid more $$$ in one game than I do in an entire year!

But he can just tell the boss: "Well, I'm not coming to work today because of something totally unrelated to me that happened in Minnesota" ... and the boss (Aaron Boone) says: "OK, I support you on that, and so do all the other multi-millionaires on the team"

Meanwhile, MLB is now dominated by Hispanics who don’t give a sh!t about what happens to American blacks.

I wonder if Mr Hicks would fault me for being upset every time another black guy or gal or group murders, rapes, and robs TRULY innocent white, Asian, Hispanic or black people of all ages who were minding their own business.

I called my office this morning and told my boss that I won't be coming in to work today because I was way too upset over multimillionaire ballplayer Aaron Hicks not playing a ballgame because he was all upset over a Cop mistakenly shooting a suspect who had a warrant for arrest on gun charge and was resisting arrest. My boss' response: "Mr. Moonlight. You're fired."

I did the same, by boss never stopped laughing so I just hung up. I live in the REAL world.

Decades ago I recall the lament about baseball salaries that it’s not so much the price of excellence but the price of mediocrity that was so high. When you’re that far below the Mendoza line he doesn’t even reach that level. Yes I know it’s early and you need at least a month or two before passing judgement. Since I no longer care about MLB beyond posting here I can snark all I want. :)

so much media outrage, so little time.

He’s consumed thinking about it.

Others are in a mad panic about mythical man-made global warming/cooling.

They should put their minds at ease.

>>Mental exhaustion comes more readily to some people than to others.

I’m having one of my fainting spells.

I guess by this benchmark the Cubs and the White Sox should take the rest of the year off.

A lifetime .233 hitter making $70 million dollars can't play because somebody tried to resist arrest and a cop pulled the wrong gun?

Common man. How many innocent kids have been gunned down by thugs in Chicago without Hicks missing an AB?

Before journalism died, that might have been a good question to ask the millionaire.

You know, maybe someone should ask why he got shot. Most of the time it's not because these people were singing at choir practice. If you're wanted on a gun charge and you're resisting arrest, you may need to rethink what got you into that situation in the first place.

Too bad the Yankees aren't aren't home for tonight's game.
