Peter Clark, 51, flew from Las Vegas to Dubai on Feb. 24, where he went to the hospital after suffering an attack of pancreatitis. Doctors there found traces of hashish in his urine – considered possession in the UAE – and reported Clark to authorities.
Clark claims he brought no drugs to Dubai, nor consumed or purchased drugs while there.
He’s not the first Westerner who has suffered under similar charges

And thanks to morons, can’t go anywhere these days in the US without smelling that shit.
Billy, what have they done to you?
The bad machine does not know he is a bad machine.
I’m from the factory. I make the machines.
The wheel, you must walk to the right.
The wheel, you must walk to the right.
The wheel, you must walk to the right.
There’s a whole machine that works because everybody does what they’re supposed to. And I found out... I was supposed to be something I didn’t like. That’s what’s in the program. That’s my rotten little part, in the rotten machine... I don’t like it. So I’m... going to find out if they’re right.

I totally agree! This place is one backwards country.

Yep, went to a Taco Bell, the smell of sour diesel and skunk everywhere.
Never went back.
That’s why they make edibles.

Interesting thread. Man “flew from Las Vegas to Dubai.” Much research is needed before gambling in Las Vegas (2% odds) and traveling to Dubai (barbaric rules).
I stopped off there twice on a trip to New Zealand (from Europe)....spending two days on each leg.
What I’ll say is that hotel-wise, across the entire spectrum...they meet your expectations. Although you will come to realize that almost all hotel employees are non-Dubai citizens. I’d also say with the weather situation, if you just wanted sun and leisure, I’d give a thumbs-up.
Beyond that, it reminds me of Vegas hotels which are built and last about 20 years then torn down. The whole city has that look and feel. Traffic-wise, you only want locals driving you around because of the confusion factor and continual construction projects going on.
oh look - we found some real racism.
Was last there in the 90s. There was a real problem with the Russian trash moving in...whores and gangs.
The guv made no secret about rounding them up.
Gold digging whores.
To be fair Dubai is not a *hithole in the ME, been there many times and never had an issue, and it is beautiful. Also I fly Emirates and I am a reward member, I refuse to fly any American Air Carrier internationally again.
Hah- while overseas, I had a heated discussion about Midnight Express with a Turkish cab driver when he was taking us to our hotel.
FYI, it was filmed in Malta- or at least that is what he screamed.
The guy should have been imprisoned for a year just for his stupid haircut. :-P
Ukrainians follow the money. They are everywhere that there is money. Silicon Valley got a large influx 25+ years ago during the big prosperity wave. They put the women in strip clubs and other sex trades to gain intel on “targets”. Many of the men work in trucking picking up that time honored tradition from the Mafia.
It was a serious question. Thanks anyway.
A fun tidbit!
Thanks
“Although the story is set largely in Turkey, the movie was filmed almost entirely at Fort Saint Elmo in Valletta, Malta, after permission to film in Istanbul was denied.”
Piss be upon him.
As everyone in D.C. winks and nods, while having a good ol' belly laugh.
