GRETNA, La. (AP) — A former sheriff’s dispatcher in a suburb of New Orleans has been arrested, accused of refusing to return more than $1.2 million that had been accidentally deposited into her brokerage account, authorities said.
Kelyn Spadoni, 33, was taken into custody Wednesday on charges of theft valued over $25,000, bank fraud and illegal transmission of monetary funds, nola.com and WVUE-TV reported. The reports said she was fired by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office after her arrest.

But remember...when an armed intruder kicks in your door and threatens you and your family, she’ll be on the other end of your 9-1-1 call.
She should have used the defense that the Nigerian that contacted her to get the money out of the country really came through for her.
Had a former coworker with the same situation.
His account was one number away from a hotel’s. First they over drew his account by $25K. Then after that got sorted out he ended up with $75K in his bank account.
He was charged overage till he took them to court.
I would blame the bank.
I would too. I’m sick of banks screwing up and acting all high and mighty. I mean she was wrong but arrest is not warranted.
There are 3 possibilities. Another customer transposed a number. Someone gave another customer the wrong number. The bank messed up.
In he first two cases they could ask and a good and decent person would return the cash. If the woman was really honest, she’d have returned it. In the last case, the bank is at fault and should pay the appropriate party.
Neither did Hillary, yet Hillary made $100,000 profit in a very short time trading corn futures.
She didn’t, someone else did it for her.
Nice non answer. You blame the bank, but she has your money and won’t give it back. What do you do. Do you say oh that’s all right you can keep my money because the bank screwed up?
If you overpay the IRS, you’ll die before you receive a refund!
Cattle futures.
...more dangerous than lupa.
#31. While “$1.2 million ain’t what it used to be”, in this woman’s case, it could be 2-5 in jail and seizures of all her illegally gained properties/bank accounts and her supply of Fried Pig Skins.
Now you've done it...I'm having fried pork skins for breakfast!
Seriously, this woman was just plain stupid thinking she could get away with this. Bought a house? LOL! That's a great way to hide from the law.
She looks like a good and worthy candidate for the next Supervisor of Elections.
Thank you. Your memory is in good shape.
