Newly released footage shows the chilling moment a New Mexico cop is gunned down during a traffic stop.
The video from the dashcam of state police Officer Darrian Jarrott’s squad car shows the state cop approaching a Chevy pickup truck on Interstate-10 on Feb. 4 and questioning the driver, who was pulled over for having overly dark tinted windows.
During a peaceful exchange that lasts several minutes, the driver identifies himself as Omar Felix Cueva and admits he has a firearm in the vehicle, according to news reports.

Jarrott, who was standing on the passenger’s side of the truck, then asks Cueva to follow him back to his squad car so he can run his name — when things turn deadly.
Cueva steps out of the pickup holding an AR-15-style rifle and opens fire.
“Oh s–t!” the cop is heard yelling before he falls to the ground.
Cueva, 39, sped off, leaving Jarrott on the side of the road, and led New Mexico cops on a 40-mile high-speed chase — before he was killed in a shootout with police.

Police are involved in COMBAT now.
Its no longer law enforcement.
The officer should have told the perp to stay in his vehicle, then call for a DL and NCIC check (since he was carrying a weapon).
Don’t understand why he didn’t follow that procedure.
“You mind if I take it off you for my safety?”
Way too deferential. Should have been, “Make a move and I’ll shoot.”
Wonder who the gun was registered to?
Why would they ask him to step out of the car if he wasn’t already cuffed or incapacitated?
This made me sick ... literally. I don’t think it was in this story, but it’s in others:
“Cueva moves around the truck and shoots Officer Jarrott several more times. Cueva then walks up to the helpless officer and fires one more round into the back of his head.”
The SOB was killed later - good riddance & then some.
As a former police radio officer, we called every couple of minutes to see if officers on a traffic stop were 10-4. When there was no answer, it was bad news (stomach lurching, frankly) until you finally did get a response or other officers “going to him” could tell you things were ok. This is the stuff of nightmares for everyone involved.
A Mostly Peaceful™ traffic stop.
Somebody explain to me how any of the gun control ideas advanced by the rats would have stopped this.
Even an outright ban on ALL firearms wouldn’t have stopped this due to the nature of the suspect.
The cop asked for the weapon and then turned and went back towards his own car without it...
How to resist the urge to put the muzzle in the guys face and clean out the mag? that is the question.
Police have so much restraint, I could not do that job. Thanks be to God that some are better people than I.
silly an unarmed social worker would have been there...
New Mexico doesn’t have any gun registration... so far.
By the way, why would that possibly matter?
Unbeiievably bad situation awareness by the officer. What was he thinking?!?!?!
The Democrat led state legislature and governor are trying hard to restrict our 2nd Amendment rights. So far they’re only able to chip away at them.
Illegal alien drug gang member? We may never know. They may never tell us, just call for more gun control.
We do know:

If you see a weapon in the truck like this, you never take your eyes off of it, pull your own out and demand he exit the vehicle. The kind of things police used to do all the time, but SJW keep up the beat on the hate police drums.

Sorry, not buying the make a move and I will shoot bs, especially when he was pulled over for tinted windows. Here in Georgia we can legally have firearms in our car, and have concealed carry. We have no requirement to turn over our handgun, or even mention we are armed.I would mention if asked, as a courtesy to the officer, but will not turn it over, we may not see them again. Sorry, in these most corrupted times, ALL sectors of society have been corrupted, FBI, DOJ, .gov, big Pharma, the list is endless. Long gone is the law enforcement motto “ to serve and protect “, from tinted windows? That said, a terrible incident.
