We needed 'approval' to take him out so he had WMD. Did he? Hindsight's 20-20. Blame Saudis for producing the hijackers? Fat chance. Iran's been the big problem all along and it was an opportunity to take out their entire infrastructure without too many casualties. Instead Iran gets control of Iraq and we do their dirty work for them. Iraq any better? Both parties took out Saddam and Khadafy and look what it got us. "Experts' are calling the shots and we're paying for it. 300k+ dead Iraqi's, Lybian refugees in Europe and trillions wasted. Go figure.
Me too. But, lets not forget that our choice in 2000 was Bush or Gore, and in 2004 it was Bush or Kerry.
Right but honestly, I was still pretty naïve and hadn’t yet wised up to Bush and the whole corrupt D.C. Establishment thing. I’ve learned a lot in the last 20 years.
I agree with you for once. Bad idea from jump.
Sad but true. The illusion of choice.
We didn’t help In Kuwaitt until Saddam also showed up on Saudi’s border with his army, which at that time would affect highly the flow of oil we were dependent on from Saudi.
With Obama running the show now you can bet he’s going to side with Iran and Against the Saudi’s just as before. Trump called it right when he re-established relations with the Sauds and cut out Iran.....
Why did we care about Kuwait in the first place? Saddam was not that stupid to attack the Saudis.
Europe/Asia are more dependent on Saudi oil than we are. We have our own. Will the left let us use it? just look at the mandatory renewals laws. Even auto companies will soon manufacture only electric cars. Great if it works but will government mandates make it work?
Oh yes he was that stupid.....First he went after Kuwait but his real target was the Saudi oil fields. He believed he could tie up the armies fiddling in Kuwaitt while he took the rest of his army right to the Saudi Border.
Now, but not then did we have our own oil. Further Obama’s running things and he’s not the sharpest tool in the box when it comes to dealing with the middle east by any means.....they all pay him like a fiddle.
Intra-Arab squabbles shouldn’t be our concern.
Actually Ukraine is Putins Red Line with Nato and why the border will remain a conflict zone.
When it comes to Irans movements there it certainly is our concern. We know that Iran wants control of the East that the Saudi’s primarily have. There will never be a stable East because they have to keep their men employed as soldiers...so their will aways be confict there.
Thanks. LOL. Remarkably, I managed to survive here all these years!
But then you know Iranians aren’t Arabs.
Some of us thought we were on the wrong side back in 1990.
“First he went after Kuwait but his real target was the Saudi oil fields. He believed he could tie up the armies fiddling in Kuwaitt while he took the rest of his army right to the Saudi Border.”
How do you know that? This speculating is what got us into that mess.
Saddam was secular and no fan of islam. We should have sided with him.
Not speculating.
Saddam wanted Kuwait because the Iraqis owed them a lot of money, also they caught Kuwait drilling into Iraqi oil fields.
Saddam got assurance that the US wouldn’t interfere, or at least he thought he got that assurance, nobody really wants to talk about that.
The Saudi thing was just to try to get people to back off on Kuwait, I doubt he really seriously would have gone through with it.
