ANCHORAGE (Reuters) - Alaska Republican Lisa Murkowski Wednesday became the first U.S. senator in more than 50 years to win an election with a write-in campaign as she established an unassailable lead over conservative Tea Party movement favorite Joe Miller.
The result of the last undecided Senate race of the November 2 congressional elections does not alter the makeup of the chamber, where Republicans picked up six seats but the Democrats retained their majority.
Murkowski had a lead of about 10,000 votes with only 752 ballots left to be counted, a state election official said on Wednesday. According to the latest figures from the state’s division of elections, Murkowski has 100,868 votes to Miller’s 90,468.

It’s a Republican state that is not conservative.
Unless Deep State owns her opponent and wants Murky gone for some reason, she ain’t going anywhere.
Those voting machines and their software will ensure it.
You know how we’ll know that AK is serious about wanting her gone: the state will repeal RCV and get rid of those damn voting machines.
That has to be done first.
Sarah Palin beat Murkys’ daddy, Frank for the governorship.
Article is 2010....
She was NOT running against Palin. I have no patience with yahoos who spout off conclusions and a I really know what happened attitude when you are clueless and have knowledge of absolutely nothing.
Pray that the insane ranked choice ballet measure that passed, gets slammed down in the courts.
It rewards “moderates” which I equate to spineless crap-weasels that have no morals, because of the way it divides up your votes.
I cannot fathom how it is legal to allow a persons votes to be sliced and diced, and then potentially awarded to someone you are politically, morally, and religiously opposed to. That in itself is criminal.
Dominion. Yes. That along with the possible horrible ranked choice voting that may take effect in 2022 could ensure she wins.
I am the clueless yahoo. I did apologize but you want to be mean.
This clueless yahoo made a mistake.
You are so kind.
Thank you.
