ANCHORAGE (Reuters) - Alaska Republican Lisa Murkowski Wednesday became the first U.S. senator in more than 50 years to win an election with a write-in campaign as she established an unassailable lead over conservative Tea Party movement favorite Joe Miller.
The result of the last undecided Senate race of the November 2 congressional elections does not alter the makeup of the chamber, where Republicans picked up six seats but the Democrats retained their majority.
Murkowski had a lead of about 10,000 votes with only 752 ballots left to be counted, a state election official said on Wednesday. According to the latest figures from the state’s division of elections, Murkowski has 100,868 votes to Miller’s 90,468.

You don’t know what will happen.
No she won’t. She’s already crashing in the Alaska polls to her opponent.
Won’t work anymore.
It iws different this time. alaska has since nsituted a ranked choice system and with most people disaproving of her I would not bet on Dem cross over votes saving her.
Ms UberRINO can shove it up her Obamahole.
And Reuters - well, they are CNN wannabees.
I never believed she won. By me, and i have no proof, just a hunch, that vote was not legit.
Remember she was running against Sarah Palin.
She had less visibility and a weak opposition.
And, to top it off, many of those who wrote in for her are not happy with her feckless drama queen persona.
From what I understand if she doesn’t finish in the top 4 she’s finished with this new voter deal
Do they have voting machines?
It didn’t happen much before because most states have some form of a sore loser law.
This is a real concern.
I now think this too was a rigged election.
I'm not saying she would definitely win another write in campaign - it's not easy - but she might even be favored.
AK has Ranked Choice Voting.
Murky ain’t going anywhere.
That could be a problem but if her Republican opponent clocks her, it’s over.
2022 is not 2010.
This was 2010
The tiny percentage she'd have of the Republican vote will be cancelled out by those that will still vote Democrat.
Dang right it was. She lost the primary to Joe Miller but refused to back down. Ran the write in. Her campaign went out and registered every Tom, Dick and Harry in the far reaches. iirc a number of them were infirmed or did not know what they were doing. In any case, like you, I’ve never believed it was a legitimate win. Joe Miller pushed it as well. He was a great candidate. Would have made a great Senator.
I believe she ran against Joe Miller.
