I just noticed the little girl holding the bowling ball.
I worked for years in a consignment store and with art, I learned that very expensive framing and matting often meant higher quality artwork.always check out the back of a frame for a framers mark or label but sometimes you just get lucky but liking a piece.
cooler than the sunglasses!
Nice Catch!
There’s always someone who thinks that old things need to be torn down simply because they are old. This crowd would paint over all the paintings in the Louvre for that reason.
They should be arrested, jailed and forced to make restitution to restore the paintings to original. If paintings cannot be restored, they get whatever the penalty is for crimes against humanity - life would be a start.
Thrift store paintings = worthless. They’re not doing anything wrong.

OK - Saturday Evening Posts covers are also a target then - Norman Rockwell sucked like thrift stores, right? It was just a magazine.
“...probably running some fine art.”
They’re already destroying a fine country, devastating the English language, and unhinging civil society; why would you expect them to exempt art?
I’m not a total curmudgeon; the bovine photo bomb, Mario Carts, Kermit, and the alien abduction we’re good for a chuckle, and the appearance of a few poorly-drawn modern cartoon characters evoked a smile. AND I liked the genuflection to “Ghostbuster.” But the stupid banana, pizza, and the bad acid trip phantasmic beasts...? And how do you get more hokey than invoking Star Wars after 35 years of commercialization and getting borg’d by a f’n 100 year-old MOUSE?
Creative...I guess? Maybe chemical assisted imagination? Like, who envisions half that stuff sober?
Still, I might take Kermit, for old time’s sake; I’ll see that and imagine him escaping the SJW Hell that is the new, ‘woke’ Sesame Street; his final flight to happiness a last ray of sunshine as darkness descends.
What was it?
“They are probably ruining some fine art.”
Like tattoos do?
It is so difficult to find a van Clomp these days...
I’ve got a $15 dollar water color from Goodwill painted by a woman in California known as the “grandma moses of california”....it hung in Nixon’s home and this lady did have a showing at the SF Art museum....just looking for the right avenue to sell it....
Before you begin the modification, you might want to check with an expert for its value.
My sister used to by old 2nd hand store paintings, sell the frames, recondition the canvas and paint. Cheap canvas.
Two of my favorite pics on our walls are from thrift stores.
And you can get some excellent frames, too.
:)
