Snakes! Snakes in the bluebonnets!
This is your annual reminder to look twice before popping a pose in a patch of bluebonnets. We all love seeing them, but sometimes there's danger among the flowers:
This year-old video shows two Diamondback rattlesnakes duking it out over a female snake in a patch of bluebonnets.
Whether you're taking pictures or being photographed, it's best to always check for any dangerous critters, slithering or otherwise. Here's what the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department suggests if you are bitten by a venomous snake:
"Keep the victim calm. Keep the bitten arm or leg below heart level. Clean bite site with soap and water.

Go roam around Texas. See the fantastic displays of bluebonnets and paintbrush, visit the 4 or 5 most famous BBQ places, visit Fredrick and take in the Nemitz/Pacific war museum and just absorb the real Texas away from the cities
It will be a truly fantastic 4 or 5 days

Guess it’s time to get rid of all the Bluebonnets. They can be replaced by gravel, easier to spot the snakes.
Whatever would we do without government to warn us that snakes are out there? I had no idea that you could bump into a rattler in Texas until I read this.
No, kidding. The HC is late to the party. Snakes lurk everywhere in TX. Found a copperhead in the guest room. It was probably one the kitties brought in. They can bring in 3 a day in the spring and summer. “Look, mama, what we brought you!” as they proudly drop live ones at my feet at this desk. We have leather gloves placed all over the house just for their disposal.
One neighbor sheepishly asked if I was being abused after hearing me yelling, “No!” Bam. “No!” Bam. “No!” one day. Nope, I was just beating a snake with granny’s cast iron skillet on the living room carpet. I nearly took a gun to it but thought a skillet was the safer bet. A cat had it wrapped around his body several times. To clarify, just beat the snake to a greasy spot and that cat immediately became an indoor cat.
Another time, had a 6 ft. racer wrapped around my feet in a figure 8 while trying to lock the back door.
Another time, was hit between the eyes by a second 6 ft. racer as it flew out of the toilet. Long story.
Was scared half to death by a rattle snake while snapping beans on the back porch.
And there were the zillion water moccasins in the river.
And...
Rocky Road.
Ah yes, the yearly spring trek in Texas to the country side just to see or walk among the fields of Blue Bonnets. Did that when living in Houston area back in the 1980s. We went west from Houston but not as far as San Antonio. Hundreds of others were doing the same thing that day. Maybe we all scared the snakes out of sight.

What ended most of my Windows issues was the following rule of thumb. Whatever the recommended RAM & hard drive space was for the Windows version in question - Double it as a minimum !
Using that rule I’ve had fewer & fewer problems with Window versions. Now using 10 on my desktop & laptop - No problems !
