Kate Winslet is calling out Hollywood for its rampant homophobia that has allegedly forced some stars to stay in the closet.
“I can think of at least four actors absolutely hiding their sexuality,” the actress, 45, told The Sunday Times. “It’s painful. Because they fear being found out. And that’s what they say. ‘I don’t want to be found out.'”
Winslet explained that the discrimination oftentimes begins as soon as actors and actresses launch their careers.

It seems like straight actors and singers pretend to be LGBT for a career boost these days.
I call BS.
If anything, it’s the opposite.
Hollywood is near full blown homo, trans gender, etc.
Or they put out for men who won’t advance their careers otherwise.
Exactly, is she referring to straight conservative actors who are hiding for fear of being Blacklisted?
Rampant homophobia in Hollywood? It seems that Hollywood goes out of its way to celebrate all things LGBTQ.

You might have it backwards... it might be straight actors afraid to admit they’re straight.
Wow, groundbreaking...Not you simpleton.
I thought it was now a “badge of honor” and a career booster to be queer in Hollywood?????
Hollywood Homophobia???
I’m not sure if that’s an oxymoron or Hollywood has descended into self hate on top of their perversion.
I wonder how many actors and actresses hide their conservativism? Probably more than hide their homosexuality.
Very well might be.
They hide it well.
What a steaming pile of dooky.
How about “look at me, I’m getting old and want some roles”?...
I am trying to understand why this would mater to me.
Yeah...apparently this Brit doesn’t get invited to the “right’ parties. I recently watched Lost Boys again for whatever reason. Maybe she can aSk Corey Feldman about this topic.
They’re likely hiding it so that they don’t have producers force them to choose between the casting couch or the exit. Don’t ever forget it’s Hollywood.
I wouldn’t call it homophobia. Hollywood has no problem with homosexuality. But that doesn’t mean an openly gay actor is going to be seen as the most potentially lucrative for certain roles. For example, with romcoms, part of the popularity comes from a female audience that likes inserting themselves into the fantasy. Would they be as willing to show up to the box office if the romantic lead were openly gay? Seems doubtful.
Hollywood does, but they also know that us “Bitter Clingers” won’t support gay actors, and they would lose money, and that’s who she’s really talking about. If it were up to Hollywood, everyone there would be gay.
