Trees just might be racist, Portland, Oregon Board of Education Director worries

....But in the “anti-racism” hysteria that has gripped education and other segments of society, because trees were once used for lynching, they now are worrisome symbols that might offend… somebody. Somebody with a very low IQ, it seems to me. I’m so old that I remember when environmental extremists were derisively called “tree huggers,” a term which now must be held by some in positions of authority to be vaguely racist. Consider this absurd worry from the Portland School Board, via the New York Post:

A Portland high school delayed a vote to change its mascot to an evergreen tree over concerns about its potential ties to lynching, a report said.

Ida B. Wells-Barnett High School — named after the prominent black activist and reporter who documented lynching — was set to vote on the new mascot last Tuesday until a board director shared community concerns over the tree’s imagery, the Portland Tribune reported.

“I’m wondering if there was any concern with the imagery there, in using a tree … as our mascot?” Portland Public Schools Board of Education Director Michelle DePass asked at the meeting.

Maybe everyone should have their feet removed because they are offensive to ants.

Or maybe all of this nonsense is just to take our attention away from the communism the left is trying to roll out.

Trees just might be racist

I don't know why not. It seems that to liberals, everything else is racist!

I don’t know if trees are racist or not. But I do know that they are mean and unpleasant. I saw a documentary about that once.

Portland is the same place that declared peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to be racist.

Chop them all down, we don’t need any stinking trees! Environmental groups hardest hit.

The name Portland is racist because African blacks were off loaded at ports on land. Down with Portland!

The term “racism” or “racist” has become a weapon against anything someone does not like (or just to play with the mind’s of others).

We have a generation that if they even know about WWI, or the Civil War, or WWII, or the Great Depression (which many don’t) can not place those events within the correct decade (or century).

So why do we assume that someone seeing a evergreen tree would automatically associate it with lynching? Other then the one person that brought it up, I doubt there is another person in the world that would connect the two.

Yet, in this day of tyranny by the minority (often just the one) those in authority bend their knee and give them what they ask for.

Ignorant cowards, all of them.

Build a wall around Portland and declare the city to now be an insane asylum, since all of its elected and appointed officials and the people who elected them are batcrap crazy.

Now now, ms Dee Pas, sure, those trees are racist, if it makes you comfortable thinking that. Here are those nice men in white coats. They’re coming to take you to a nice, quiet room with soft walls and no sharp objects. You’ll be happy there.

The Trees - by Rush

The Trees

Rush

-

There is unrest in the forest

There is trouble with the trees

For the maples want more sunlight

And the oaks ignore their pleas

-

The trouble with the maples

And they're quite convinced they're right

They say the oaks are just too lofty

And they grab up all the light

-

But the oaks can't help their feelings

If they like the way they're made

And they wonder why the maples

Can't be happy in their shade

-

There is trouble in the forest

And the creatures all have fled

As the maples scream "Oppression"

And the oaks just shake their heads

-

So the maples formed a union

And demanded equal rights

"The oaks are just too greedy

We will make them give us light"

Now there's no more oak oppression

For they passed a noble law

And the trees are all kept equal

By hatchet, axe, and saw
