Journey has reached an “amicable settlement” with a pair of former members that were previously accused of plotting an “ill-conceived” attempt to take over the band’s name.
In March 2020, Journey’s Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain fired longtime bassist Ross Valory and drummer Steve Smith after the latter two allegedly tried to fund their retirement by wresting control of the band’s name.
Both Schon and Cain and Valory exchanged lawsuits in the legal battle; Skip Miller, a lawyer for Schon and Cain, said at the time of Valory’s countersuit, “The cross-complaint has no merit whatsoever. Valory is out of the band. When the pandemic is over, Journey will go out on tour without him. Life will go on.”

They’re still fighting over the name?
Creedence Clearwater went through something like this too.
John Fogerty was told not to mention it during his performances. That may have been resolved with a payoff long ago.
If you want them to cry, bring em to an Alice Cooper concert.
I'm with you. Always hated Journey. If I can't change the station fast enough I just hit the power button and turn the damn' thing off.
I concur. It’s just not the same.
I feel the same about Foreigner. It’s not Foreigner without Lou Gramm.
Regarding Journey: I’m still surprised that Jonathan Cain married the TV Evangelist Paula White.
OMG! What are you talking about? Go back to listening to your Jazz and Blue Grass.
Steve Perry one of the best vocalists OF ALL TIME!
Poor guy. Elaine is so demanding.
I guess they all hadn’t been out in the heat with a blue jeaned girl, with that burning love that only comes once in a lifetime.
To you
Neal Schon was actually very talented. You don’t get to play with Santana at 17 if you aren’t. But he wanted to make money and he admitted he played the way he did in order to meet the image of the band. They actually were corporate rock and played a specific way in order to make big money. It worked and now I guess he’s happy with himself.
maybe I liked iggy pop more
agreed
Great Sam Kinison line: “Why doesn’t she use cream rinse? Why doesn’t she use cream rinse?? Oh oh oohhhhhh!!!!”
Aynsley Dunbar was a super talented drummer who also played on Journey’s first four albums. I used to follow him when he played for Frank Zappa.
To me, the saddest thing about CCR’s breakup was that John and Tom Fogerty never made up before Tom’s death. I wonder if John regrets that.
I’m a huge Supertramp fan and I find it sad that Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies harbor such animosity towards one another.
IMHO, Rick Davies’ wife, Sue, was responsible for a considerable amount, although not all, of the acrimonious breakup. She worked for Supertramp’s record label and, shortly after marrying Rick, installed herself as the band’s manager. Hodgson and his wife absolutely despised Sue Davies.
Years later, in a newspaper interview Dougie Thomson, Supertramp’s bassist, admitted that he also disliked Mrs. Davies.
For the past several years, Rick Davies has suffered from Multiple Myeloma and it’s a miracle that he’s still alive. I still hope that, somehow, Davies and Hodgson can call a truce before Davies passes away.
Sadly, I don’t believe that will ever happen. And, yes, I believe that Sue Davies is responsible for that. Sue has been a wonderful wife to Rick ( Married over 40 years) but she was a cancer for the band.
Did you ever try to date her? Sounds like you really liked her.

Interview with Paula White and Jonathan Cain by James Robison.
GREAT interview! (warning... actual “spiritual” stuff)
Same sort of thing goes on in all walks of life. Fighting over property - intellectual or otherwise after an acrimonious split. Why should music be any different?
One if my favorite lines of all time is sitting in a Texas divorce lawyer’s office. She says “In my cases someone is always fighting about who gets the black and white TV and the rhinestone encrusted douchebag.”
This was more than a few years ago of course.
I watched a video on u-toob about the breakup of Creedence Clearwater Revival and the feud between brothers Tom and John. They sued one another and effectively disowned each other. What a shame.
Guess they’re going separate ways.
