At the time of the Suez blockage, Ms Elselehdar was working as a first mate, in command of the Aida IV, hundreds of miles away in Alexandria.

“First Mate” — lots of guys are thinking that.
Wish I'd seen this in time to use for GGG:
Some are wondering if a plan to move 22 mummies this weekend is to blame for a series of unlucky events in Egypt. ABC News' Will Ganss reports. Mohamed Abd El Ghany/Reuters | 'Pharaoh's curse' blamed for Suez Canal blockage, other unfortunate events in Egypt
Well, if she had been piloting the boat through the canal instead of sitting around in Alexandria, the incident might have been avoided.
In the words of Lavrentiy Beria (wokized to be gender neutral) “ “Show me the person and I’ll find you the crime.”
Yeah, or "blocking the canal".
It had to be a woman to screw up that bad!!! Trying to parallel park in the suez canal!!!!
.
I forgot the /s. Apoligies to those aithout a sense of humor.
That is a very inspirational article! You’ve got to hand it to her for persevering and getting her First Mate’s license against a lot of opposition. It was awful somebody wrote the false story about her causing the canal blockage as a way to attach her, but it that backfired and made her more famous. My sister and her daughter ran into similar obstacles in their careers and overcame them.
She didn’t need to be piloting it. It’s possible she was in a bikini on the shore waving to the captain and caused the whole thing that way. ;-)
Well, it was Eve who committed the first act of sin and then persuaded Adam to go along with her evil.
Some things never change...
Has the captain’s identity ever been revealed? I haven’t seen it mentioned in any of the coverage and I confess my first thought was that it would be embarrassing to the keepers of PC. Remember our own recent USN foul-ups: it was finally revealed that the ships were commanded by women. But in this case it does indeed look like Egyptian misogyny at work, and this glamour puss “first mate” is using it as an opportunity to spread her headshots all over social media.
In Egypt, it's probably a good career choice from the standpoint of decent salary and little need for upper body strength as well. I'm glad I wasn't born in Egypt.
Heh... I wasn’t thinking that at all...
It was an Egyptian pilot for the transit of the Canal, is what I’ve read.
“... using it as an opportunity to spread her headshots all over social media.”
If she was horribly wronged like the article says, she most certainly deserves to set the record straight. I don’t doubt for a second the men in the industry want to destroy her to protect the brotherhood.
It’s not her fault she is gorgeous.
😂
I'm surprised they haven't labeled her as a white supremacist yet.
