US crime rise not letting up in major cities (Covid edition)

Major American cities saw a 33% increase in homicides last year as a pandemic swept across the country, millions of people joined protests against racial injustice and police brutality, and the economy collapsed under the weight of the pandemic - a crime surge that has continued into the first quarter of this year.

Sixty-three of the 66 largest police jurisdictions saw increases in at least one category of violent crimes in 2020, which include homicide, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault, according to a report produced by the Major Cities Chiefs Association. Baltimore City, Baltimore County and Raleigh, North Carolina, did not report increases in any of the violent crime categories.

It's nearly impossible to attribute any year-to-year change in violent crime statistics to any single factor, and homicides and shootings are an intensely local phenomenon that can spike for dozens of reasons. But the increase in homicide rates across the country is both historic and far-reaching, as were the pandemic and social movements that touched every part of society last year.

"The people in our communities are not desensitized to violence," said Ray Kelly, the lead community liaison for the Consent Decree Monitoring Team and the director of the Citizens Policing Project and lifelong resident of West Baltimore. "Every incidence of violence potentially destroys families, and we cannot confuse people's perseverance and willingness to survive as tolerance or complacency."

For President Trump’s supporters in these cities - you are running out of time to get out.

For Xiden voters and other useful idiots in these cities - too bad, so sad.

Baw’more
Back in the day, mom & pop businesses thrived, from restaurants nestled in old neighborhood brownstones. A shipyard, a seafaring town.

One time my dad took me to a small little restaurant tucked away in the basement of a brownstone row house where during WWII he would go and pick up some lunch or maybe have an oyster sandwich and a beer.

He hadn’t been in this restaurant for 30+ years during the war, and while he’s telling me the story of the restaurant, there’s this old lady waiting tables, and pops looks at her for a moment and says “my God I think she used to work here back when I used to frequent this joint.”

BTW, the oyster sandwich was a shucked oyster affair on white... and the beer was none other than a Carling Black Label.

Every one of these hellhole cities stopped Prosecuting Low Level Crimes and allowed crime to fester.

——Every one of these hellhole cities——

The whole anti police process is forced Africanization

Donald Trump scared the hell out of the Democrat establishment by correctly proclaiming he had taken a large share of the “black vote”. Absent the “black vote” of at least 90% there is no democrat party.

Black Lives Matter simply because absent malleable black voters, there is no Democrat Party.

The black vote must be restored and assured at all costs or there is no Democrat party. The cost of restoration includes suffering burning and looting and crimes of all sorts. The crime must be tolerated to insure the vote of the ignorant black population.

The Democrat party is terminally and for America mortally racist

The “Ferguson Effect” is real—all the lefty “experts” “debunking” it can’t change that simple fact.

interesting question...and why can those municipalities get away with reckless endangerment of the public consequent their professional (governing/politicking is a profession? has consequences of practicing on the community) negligence?

My word! The White Supreemists are really doing Trump’s bidding in a big way, going into these cities and harming innocent blacks. The government needs to take action on assault weapons to stop these evil white men from Mississippi Burning (a documentary)!! Sarcasm, but a representation of how a good number of people “think.”

This is a perfect time for the social workers to go in and stop these shootings.

Simple. They keep getting voted into power by idiots. Then the idiots don’t like the results. Whomever coined the phrase “Low Information Voter” nailed it!

I still remember the anti-violence hysteria that swept the US back in 1968-1985 following the death of Bobby Kennedy.

Movies shown on TV were butchered to remove scenes of “violence” TV shows for adults but safe for children were dumbed down to kiddie shows, toy guns disappeared from the toy stores, pulp novels made their covers less lurid.

Only movies got a pass by claiming they would “regulate themselves” with a joke of a ratings system.

HOT DOG! The Hays Code is dead! Scenes were re-shot to add more blood, guts, and sex to get the coveted “R” and “X” ratings.

Astonishingly, the article is reasonable and explores all the relevant issues. Of course I’d have a lot more respect if MSN had the courage to write this nine months ago.

Gee, what caused the spike in crime? Could it be the war on police and the all fake narratives the left peddled about the police that has made it much harder to do proactive police work?
