Commissioner of Baseball Robert D. Manfred, Jr. issued the following statement today regarding the 2021 All-Star Game:
"Over the last week, we have engaged in thoughtful conversations with Clubs, former and current players, the Players Association, and The Players Alliance, among others, to listen to their views. I have decided that the best way to demonstrate our values as a sport is by relocating this year’s All-Star Game and MLB Draft.
"Major League Baseball fundamentally supports voting rights for all Americans and opposes restrictions to the ballot box. In 2020, MLB became the first professional sports league to join the non-partisan Civic Alliance to help build a future in which everyone participates in shaping the United States. We proudly used our platform to encourage baseball fans and communities throughout our country to perform their civic duty and actively participate in the voting process. Fair access to voting continues to have our game’s unwavering support.
MLB says it’s voter fraud or they’re out of there!

The patriotic citizenry has learned to live without professional sports.
When I was a kid, baseball was about throwing, hitting, fielding, base running, etc.
I haven’t watched MLB since the strikes demanding more money. They just don’t get it.
And now look what’s happened to football. They just don’t get that Americans don’t want to hear anything about their politics.

Not a professional sports fan at all, including the Olympics, but the real enemy is those who are attacking the First Amendment. They are attacking on two fronts: censoring those with whom they disagree and silencing them with intimidation, and then demanding that everyone else—supporters and neutral parties—speak on their behalf, so forced speech, the silence is violence nonsense. The BLM and other groups are putting enormous pressure on companies to speak up for them while deplatforming anyone who opposes them. This is an area where an alliance could be formed if the silenced and the forced speakers put their heads together and told BLM etc to shove it.

Me too, was getting ready to watch again, maybe a game in person this year? I’m A Braves fan, so a double whammy for me. Too bad, the season ended for me before it began. Darn.

Same here. I was about to go back, hoping they had stopped all that social justice crap, and now this. So, no more watching or following my St. Louis Cardinals. *sigh*

It is disconserting that Robert D. Manfred, Jr. is getting involved in politics and ruining the baseball season for people like me who like to watch baseball. I will not be watching the All Star game or the draft and baseball at all this season. Robert D. Manfred, Jr. should have better sense that to involve the league in such triviality. Georgia has a right to try to limit democratic cheating in elections, and if you do not think they are, then look at who is vehemently fighting against Voter ID and who is for mail-in ballots. Come on, open your eyes, why else would they be so adamemt about wanting to void those restrictions?
I feel so ahead of the curve. I dropped cable over a year ago because I couldn’t stand FoxNews and I was fed up with pro sports. Baseball and hockey were the last major pro sports that I watched. Both have firmly solidified their position. I will never watch again. Screw them. Go Woke, Go Broke.
This outrageous. It’s time for the MLB’s rating to drop like the NBA’s have. And, MLB won’t have China to bail it out.
I have decided that the best way to demonstrate my values as a US citizen is to tune out MLB completely.

I agree with one caveat… you have to let MLB know why. Here’s my letter to MLB,
Dear Mr. Manfred,
Thank you for relocating this year’s All-Star Game and MLB Draft. As a lifelong fan and attendee of many games, it’s become clearer and clearer just exactly what a waste of time America’s Pastime has become….this latest move concerning the relocation was the final straw and I’m outta here never to return to another game. With a whole summer ahead of me, I’ll have the time to put on another coat on the deck, more rounds of golf, more bass to catch and more time to play catch with the grandkids.
Yup… you have made something very easy that I should have been done a long time ago.
