Delta sucks.
The whole flying experience has deteriorated over the last 25 years.
Airline terminals are nothing more than carpeted bus stations. People fly dressed like slobs and have no manners.
Passengers attempt to cram steamer trunks into the overhead, leaving no room for the unfortunates who board the back of the plane.
Sadly, flight attendants are geared to deal with these people. They’re more like camp guards than “hosts / hostesses.” They assert themselves as “in charge” immediately; no sense of humor, no idle chit-chat with passengers. It’s all business. “Keep your mouth shut and your head down and we’ll get along fine.” And, just maybe, it’s good that some of them are built like halfbacks. Look at the behavior of some passengers. YouTube is chock full of WWE matches between unruly fliers (usually drunk on their asses) and everyone else.
Any airline that begins to screen passengers IN THE WAITING AREA (oversize luggage, unruly / weird behavior, etc.) will get my business even if it costs a little more.
Until then, I’ll fly only when absolutely necessary. I’ll drive or take the train.
It took a while for air hostess to become a career. The stews of “Fly me, I’m Wendy” days have morphed into today’s sky hags.
passengers certainly aren't.....
FA’s should be required to be in good physical condition. That’s a safety issue. Also, there should be an age limit. Other aviation jobs (such as ATC’s) have age limits.
WHO here is old enough to remember the PSA flight attendants in MINI SKIRTS????
And how they all would ‘jazz up’ the usual pre-flight instructions about the oxygen masks & seats as float devices??
They are getting a little long in the tooth. đ
“A new real-time feedback, Delta Pulse, that was created by Delta Airlines with the hope of improving its service...”
Should be renamed to “Delta Plus Size”.
There are some videos on YouTube that profile some FA’s that have been flying for 60 years and still working in their 80’s. So what is wrong with that if they can still do the job? I saw a video a few years back on a woman 90 who was a surgical nurse and had been working since W.W. II, amazing .
My mom was a stew back in the day. They had to weigh in once a week. There were height and weight restrictions. Now they are âflight attendantsâ and are generally overweight, bitter, and long in the tooth. If they happen to be male, they are gay.
All the hassles with traveling and THIS is what these fools complain about?
This tells me they do not even have any idea of why they are angry. We should simply put bells around these people’s necks, as it is important to know where they are when around you.
I have flown Delta a lot in the last year (east coast 30+legs). IMO Delta has done a great job. Planes are clean; attendants are professional.I am going to miss the empty middle seat come May 1. Flying Delta and flying in general has never been better than currently never felt more appreciated as a customer. Hopefully it will carry forward.
Airline personnel have the power to have you arrested, fined and or jailed if they decide they don’t like your attitude (I think it is called obstruction of a flight crew, or something like that).
With power like that they don’t need to be nice.
The last airline I flew on was United. That was about 9 years ago (and thankfully I haven’t had to fly since). I needed to ask the flight attendant a question and she was about 3 ft away. I addressed her as stewardess. She quickly corrected me. I asked her why she was so rude. At that point I forgot what the question was.
There is no mandatory retirement age for Delta Flight Attendants. My sister hung it up with Delta last year at 65. She has often mentioned there were plenty of Attendants in their 70’s still working. They only have to fly a couple days a week to be fully employed, nice benefits, cheap or free travel if willing to fly standby.
“âThe aisles are too narrow on your planes and my elbows kept getting bumped by the pudgy flight attendant who couldnât control the movement of her assâ”
Yep. We live in an soft obese society. Fat people in planes and lots of whining.
Originally the “Stewardess” had to be a nurse and they had age and weight requirements !!!
The most beautiful girl in my high school became a Delta flight attendant nearly 40 years ago.
She still is. (A Delta flight attendant, I mean. Not as beautiful.)
